malam harinya ... wuihhh dingin banget ...

(perasaan dah hampir tiap hari lihat matahari .... :p ....

N73 ME, 3.2 MP ....

tapi lucunya .... saya masih penasaran ... terkadang saya hidupin paksa tuh kamera digital .. dapat beberapa photo .... trus mati ..... trus saya hidupin lagi bbrp menit kemudian ... dapat beberapa photo ... mati lagi dan begitu seterusnya sampe pulang .... (ceritanya masih panjang neh) ...

akhirnya diputuskan naik kuda sajalah .... sekalian nyoba :D

pokoke ndak rugi lah .... sekali2 kesini ...

kalo dua kali ... mikir2 dulu ah .... selain ongkosnya lumayan ... dan dingin banget sehhh .... :D

Travelling or Video Conferencing?

Video conferencing permits a large or small number of individuals to communicate in real time, no ma

Video conferencing permits a large or small number of individuals to communicate in real time, no matter where they are located. Via audio and video transmissions, the parties will be able to discuss, conference, and compare charts, graphs, and other items. This combination of visual data with voice interaction and video reality makes this as most useful tool for many business and individuals alike.

It is a lot less expansive than traveling. If you consider that the average business trip requires two way transportation to and from the location, accommodations, quite possibly car rental or other transportation at the target location, meals, entertainment of clients, and various other incidentals, it is easy to understand that a video conference that will keep the employee or executive in the office rather than traveling halfway across the county is indeed a money saving idea.

Some of the hidden costs that can be avoided as well are insurance premiums to cover the traveling employee, the cost of hiring a temporary replacement or the overtime to cover the workload of the employee, as well as the money that it costs to call together a meeting for the debriefing. The time that is lost in travel is useable in video conferencing.

In addition to the foregoing, VC requires the participants to be well prepared ahead of the conference. Gone are the days when an employee is flying across country only to realize that she or he left a big presentation in the office at home. With videoconferencing, all office applications and files are immediately accessible. Additionally, to make the conference go well, all participants will want to have their presentations together and ready for sharing.

Of course, the greatest advantage of VC is the easy access a business or company has to experts. Law offices in particular will appreciate the ability to solicit expert testimony from the best and brightest in their fields. Not to be forgotten, the medical profession, too, greatly benefits from videoconferencing since experts from across the country or even across the world are able to collaborate and find solutions to baffling cases.

One of the more peripheral advantages is the fact that employees will be able to receive direct training in research, presentation skills as well as public speaking. After all, anyone may be called on to participate in a video conference, and therefore all those involved in a certain aspect of the business need to be able to make sure they are up to date on all the information, as well as able to present it properly.

Compared to a mere telephone call, it is much more personal. Gone are the days when a proposal was sent via the mail and then a follow up phone call was made to see if the proposal was received and if the company was interested, requested changes, etc. Using it, the data may be sent simultaneously. This permits businesses to close deals much faster and also gives the buyer, or proposed recipient of a service, a certain person to person contact which makes it a much more pleasant experience. Additionally, it permits the seller, or service provider, to create that personal relationship with a client, which is a most valuable tool for future up-sell opportunities.

A major advantage is that it is a part of all the items already mentioned is the simple possibility to communicate on all levels, including body language. During a telephone call, body language cannot be perceived, and when debriefing an employee who has just returned from a business trip or conference, you will only be able to rely on her or his take of the situation and the participants. Videoconferencing permits everyone involved to get a good read on a situation, a new client or provider, and thusly communicate on a number of levels.

As you can see, video conferencing is indeed a technology that offers many advantages to its users. With ever better technological advances and user friendly prices, this is a business application that is here to stay.

Yes, aku berangkat ke New Zealand!!

Pramugarinya jutek... Cantik sih, tapi jutek bangeeeetttt... Including petugas bandara yang cewek..

Dulu pertama kali naik pesawat waktu zaman TK. Hehe... Jadi bisa dibayangin gimana excited-nya aku naik pesawat... Ndeso emang :'( Tapi yang penting gak malu-maluin dong, tetep stay cool. Hohoho...

Yang bikin deg deg an adalah waktu cuaca buruk, tiba-tiba........ gruduk gruduk gruduk Oh My God.... Oh My God!! Beruntung cuma 5 menit... Fiuhh... Thanks God, It's over.

to be continued...

"If it's on the shelf it's fucking for sale!" I yell at the bemused bartender in the El Carmen, pointing indignantly to the bottle with the Egyptian Cobra in it. A cluster of menacing Mexican wrestling masks give me their emergency grins from up on the roof, the empty eye sockets sparkling above vacant, wide zippered smiles. It occurs to me that everywhere else in the world, it's already Friday.

Misirlou girl with the heavy eye make up she hasn't washed off in days and the do-it-yourself-H-bomb-home-assembly-kit in her handbag randomly punching buttons on the juke box and Fluke's "Atom Bomb" comes on. At the bar, Would-you-like-to-see-my-secret-lair man starts heaving up and down in a syncopated flavour of beserk, stuffing his fat fingers into his date's hair, grinding into her. Ten mirrors on the back wall reflect her shoes, girding themselves into the stirrups of the stool. "Yeah," says no one in particular, "She's like, totally bi-coastal now."

The supremacy of cobra shooter with asp venom and hallucinogenic properties loses it's impetus as half a tequila with a sucked lime arrives. Someone bumps into Edward Norton, like, literally. He's hugely apologetic, like, naturally. A kung-fu star stunt-double bodyguard sits quietly in the comfy chair by the bathroom doing a Rubic's cube. Everyone is hugely respectful. He's had a great career don't you know. Austin Matt is pleased to see me. "I didn't know you two were together," he says.

"We're not. I'm with the snake behind the bar."

"Ha Ha! Have a good one, mate," he says grinning and cards a guy who could be his father.

Everyone from Texas thinks I'm a fucking Australian. Everyone has a lot of tatoos.

This thin guy who is taller than he looks and is claiming to have access to a nuclear submarine we can take a cruise on this Saturday. We're all being really polite as no one really believes him, but it's smart not to let him see this as he just might have access to said submarine he's frantically describing in detail and he also knows where most of us live. What-line-are-you-in-I'm-a-billionaire is late, but starts buying multiple rounds of drinks by way of apology. He takes a piece of crumpled cardboard out of his wallet and, leaning over to a model says, "Hey baby, you ever seen a Nobel Prize?" Someone forgot their blow in the men's room. But everyone's like, very cool about this.

Everyone inside has a master plan at this stage. Folks outside are busy formulating.

Someone's shouting directions into an iPhone, "Is it Sweetzer or Third? Fuck! How can you call yourself a Hollywood boy if you don't know where fucking Sweetzer is."

I don't think my master plan is going to work out. Plus I'm not sure where we parked. The guy with the tarot cards leans over and says, "You can make your plans anywhere else in the world except here. LA has it's own plans for you."

I go out for a cigarette. Austin Matt's outside talking to a model and either a very short person or a very tall dwarf.

"How you enjoying LA these days?" He says.

"You can make your plans anywhere else in the world except here. LA has it's own plans for you." I say.

Matt laughs, "Ain't that the fucking truth he says. Hey have you seen my five series?"

The moon comes out, full and heavy.

The moon goes away, silently.

The smell of Mexican food.

The sound of a big motorcycle.

[caption id="attachment_54" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="The White Horse, Cherhill, Wiltshire"][/caption]
When I lived in London, I was always going somewhere - different stores to the ones where I lived, to work - I never had a job that wasn't at least 30 minutes travel time away, to meet friends - always in Central London, never nearby.

Now I'm semi-retired or at least not well enough to work, of course a job isn't a problem. Since we moved to the country I've been self-employed and worked from home which I loved. I could have a lie in bed when I wanted knowing I just had to have a quick shower and go downstairs. I could eat my breakfast at my desk if I was too late to have it in the kitchen. I could work hard and clear my desk and take a day off or work at weekend instead of Friday for example. The only travelling I did was to see clients, usually in London. That was about an hour on the train then a cab ride in London.

We mostly get all our food and household stuff locally. We only go to a bigger town when we want something special like a piece of furniture or more expensive clothes. We can buy reasonably priced clothes for every day wear locally.

I mostly wear casual clothes, jeans, tee-shirts, sandals or boots, waterproofs with a hood. In London I never wore a hooded waterproof jacket, I wore a smart raincoat if it was raining and carried an umbrella (that I usually lost!). During the working week I always wore smart clothes, only wearing casual clothes at the weekend. Then I put on make-up everyday, now I don't.

I still get the best haircut I can afford and I'm lucky because there is an excellent hairdresser in our town.

Today we went to the local farmers' market in town where there are real farmers selling their own produce. I bought 2 trout and trout pate from a fish farmer, home made brown bread, and organic raspberries - my very favourite fruit.

[caption id="attachment_56" align="alignleft" width="216" caption="Salisbury Cathedral by Constable"][/caption]

Sometimes we go to the big Salisbury market on Saturday. It's a real headache to park, though, and the city is always very crowded with people on market day. This kind of market is such an old fashioned concept that has been taking place for centuries.

I think the car boot (trunk) sales that take place at the weekend all over the country in fields and carparks are a direct descendent of the traditional markets. Here in Wiltshire, the car boot sales are nearly all amateur sellers trying to sell the stuff they no longer use. It works well - one person's junk is another person's treasure. A few weeks ago I bought a watercolour painting of a springer spaniel which I thought was lovely. It is nicely framed and glazed and only £2 (about $4).

[caption id="attachment_59" align="alignright" width="300" caption="My own springer spaniel"][/caption]

Almost everywhere we go in Wiltshire, people are pleasant, chatty and smiley, always ready to exchange a word and a joke. It is a complete contrast to London where that didn't happen much. I suppose it's because you hardly saw the same people so never got to recognise them or maybe it's just that there are so many people around in London that people just can't be bothered or have time to be friendly.

After a few blogs about everyday travel and various Internet games I’ve been wasting time with

After a few blogs about everyday travel and various Internet games I've been wasting time with the last couple of weeks I thought I'd make a return to form with today's post.

I'm planning a round-the-world trip with some old university friends for next year and our philosophy for our trip is the somewhat tried and tested 'off the beaten track' approach. My genuine preference for holidays is to find the real country and to explore parts of the world where you won't find the hordes of tourists. Nothing is worse to me than the haunts commonly frequented by British tourists. Sure they may be hot and sunny but I'm not interested in spending a holiday with people who just seem to want to get drunk and be loud the whole time. I could do that in Ashford.

So with this in mind I've been looking around and trying to do some research into some beautiful places to visit that aren't typically travelled to. I'm looking for places of outstanding natural beauty or some really interesting culture mostly, and somewhere where you can lose yourself in the local ways. I've read lots and lots of travel blogs and diaries the last few days and these five places are where I'd like to visit and where I recommend going if you're after the same kind of things that I am.

Full of stunning scenery and some of the most unique environments on Earth, Greenland is a really amazing place. It is a country dominated by the huge arctic ice sheet and is home to glaciers, icebergs and the breathtaking northern lights. Just take a look at these pictures of the landscapes you can expect in Greenland.

[caption id="attachment_72" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Lakes and fjords in Greenland"][/caption]
[caption id="attachment_73" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Icebergs in Greenland"][/caption]

Parts of Greenland, especially the northern parts, experience the famous midnight Sun. In these parts of the country the Sun does not set at night and you can see it remain above the horizon for a little over four months. Perhaps one of the most awe inspiring sights in Greenland is the Aurora Borealis. Occurring all year round the lights are caused by particles from the Sun colliding with the Earth's atmosphere. A truly unique sight it is just one of the many reasons for visiting Greenland. For a real arctic adventure and something a little different than that boring beach holiday I would definitely recommend Greenland.

Next up is Quito, the capital of Ecuador. Along with Krakow in Poland it was the first city to be named a UNESCO World Heritage Site back in 1978. It is the second highest capital city in the world and is surrounded by active volcanoes. The sights looking over the city are quite unique as you can see just how high it is as well as seeing the snowy topped volcanoes in the background.

[caption id="attachment_74" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Quito from a distance"][/caption]
[caption id="attachment_75" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="A busy Quito street"][/caption]

The city has a beautifully preserved old town with many historic buildings intact. You can really gain a great insight into a busting South American capital by spending some time in Quito. Also situated not far from the city is the Mitad del Mundo or 'Middle of the World' museum. Here you can see a 30 foot high monument and stand on the equator itself. A really interesting place, I would certainly look to consider it if you're planning on heading into South America.

For another place steeped in historical significance and natural beauty then Hanoi in Vietnam is another outstanding choice. Humans have been living in what is now Vietnam for around 500,000 years and Hanoi has been populated for around 10,000 years. It is one of the most significant settlements in Asia with a rich culture and history.

[caption id="attachment_76" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Pagoda in Hanoi"][/caption]
[caption id="attachment_77" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Hanoi overlooking the lakes"][/caption]

While the country will be remembered for the war with the USA and several bloody episodes in its recent history the country has now found its feet and is aiming for membership of the WTO. The city of Hanoi has more cultural sites than anywhere else in Vietnam, with over 600 pagodas and temples. For places dripping with culture you could try; The Temple of Literature, One Pillar Pagoda, Flag Tower of Hanoi and Bay Mau Lake. The lakes around Hanoi are some of the most beautiful places on Earth, with the West Lake being very popular as the largest lake in Hanoi.

Increasingly friendly for tourists the city of Hanoi is a spectacular place to visit on any trip through Asia.

Staying in Asia the next place that I recommend you give some thought to visiting is Bhutan. Largely isolated from the rest of the world until the 1960s the country has a rich culture and heritage that has gone mostly unspoiled. Despite the promise for tourists Bhutan has a tight control on the number of visitors to the country. The control is to 'safeguard this rich natural environment and culture'. As one of the most remote areas in the world, it has certainly sparked my interest.

[caption id="attachment_78" align="aligncenter" width="224" caption="Keshav Pradhan in Bhutan"][/caption]
[caption id="attachment_79" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Some of the breathtaking scenery in Bhutan"][/caption]

The country is nestled in between China, Tibet and India and maintains a rich Buddhist heritage. The citizens dress in a traditional dress that consists of robes and shawls to the knees and then ankle length socks and immaculately polished shoes. If you wish to visit one of the last places where the influence of the West hasn't yet made itself known then Bhutan is the place to go.

The last place on my list is Beijing in China. While not as remote or unusual as my previous choices I think that China is often overlooked as a holiday destination. The city of Beijing is being revitalised as the youth of China are looking to embrace modern ideals and lifestyles. The city is an interesting mix of old and new and creates an interesting cultural backdrop for any holiday.

Beijing is in a strange position where it is simultaneously beautiful and heavily polluted. There are numerous world famous sights to see such as Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Both of these landmarks will give a rich insight into the history of China and give you a chance to soak up some of the culture.

[caption id="attachment_80" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="A Beijing welcome"][/caption]
[caption id="attachment_81" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Beijing station"][/caption]

Beijing experiences an interesting climate with extremely cold winters and very hot summers. If you're looking for something a little more bearable then it is certainly recommended that you visit in the Autumn. Pollution during the Summer can become almost unbearable and temperatures during Winter can plummet.

Beijing is hosting the Olympic Games in 2008 and so will be much more used to tourists afterwards. I would certainly recommend visiting the capital city of one of the most interesting countries on Earth. If the sprawling metropolis isn't for you then you can use it is a launchpad into the rest of the country.

Well that's my list of places I think you should visit that you'd never considered. Certainly as I travel more I intend to visit them all and gain more experience of other cultures and climates. If you think I've missed something off here, I'd love to hear from you or if anyone has been to these places and can give more insight it'd be great to hear some opinions.

During my last trip, I didn't make any prior arrangements with the hotel to keep my EBM in their freezer as I was told the hotel is a 5-stars hotel.

As soon as I arrived in my room, I called their In-Room Dining to make arrangements. True, it is a 5-stars hotel but what they have failed to tell me was it's a relatively new hotel and their service was horrendous! EVERYTIME I called to ask them to collect my EBM, I had to repeat what I wanted over the phone 2-3 times! Once, they came up to my room to return back my EBM despite me telling them that I wanted THEM to collect. I even wrote on the packs my check-out date and time! Another time, I had to wait for more than 20 minutes for them to come up that I resorted to just passing it to them at breakfast! It was exasperating! I even found myself speaking in their language/ slang/ accent just to get my points across.

At the end of my stay, I thought that my stay at Seoul Plaza Hotel was still the best (in terms of handling my EBM).

Where did I go?

Where did I stay?

__________________________________________________________

The weekend I came back, we took baby AH to the beach with the boys and girls.

Baby AH seemed to enjoy the beach as he was well-behaved! Or he liked being fussed over by the boys and girls. Haha. We didn't take him to the waters though as I don't think he is ready for that YET (or kali mummynya yang inda ready. hehe.).

I fed Baby AH before we went to the beach and I brought his biscuits and water just in case. He didn't ask for any of these as well as milk! Again, I think he was enjoying being fussed over- lapar pun lupa! However, as soon as we got into the car he started crying and asking for a feed! Not long after that, terus tidur! Must be the angin pantai, so nyaman and made him sleepy. Girls, I guess he tahan-ed his ngantuk until dalam kereta. Hehe.

________________________________________________________________

Besides work (I did my first issuance with help from C & Z- thanks girls!), I got myself a new toy and am loving it! I still have a lot to explore but I love the fact that it has an Eng-Mal dictionary! LOL. Not that I have had a chance to use it yet but the thought of a translator at the tips of your fingers (literally! haha.) is fun! Plus I finally got myself a 3g phone, which is also the first ever phone I have bought with my own money since I started work is also sweeeeeeet! Hehehe.

Which phone?

Photo courtesy of facebook's E71 group. Hehe.

-----------------------------------------------------------

The past few days, with most people fasting to make up for missed days last year, it occurred to me that, insya Allah, I will still be feeding AH during Ramadhan this year.

From what I have read, breastfeeding (and pregnant) mothers are allowed NOT to fast if they feel that by fasting, it will have a negative impact on the mother and the baby. I have also read that when a mother fasts, her milk supply will not likely decrease, however, the milk composition might change.

Currently, AH takes 2 meals a day- breakfast and dinner. He usually takes veggies or fruits in the morning followed by 8oz of milk and rice & something else for dinner. During the day his milk intake is now between 16oz - 20oz and I am thinking another 12oz or so in the evening.

I am thinking of introducing lunch to AH soon so he can have a midday meal when Ramadhan comes but I am still contemplating as I understand that milk should still be babies' main source of food until they turn one (another reason why I don't stress eating as much yet, merely introducing all kinds of food. hehe.). Alternatively, I am again stocking up my EBM just in case supply runs low (despite research said it shouldn't. hehe.). Plus, I am supposed to go away for 2 weeks in September but have yet to receive confirmation. So, either way, I still need to stock up.

In terms of expressing, I was thinking to stick with after subuh prayers pumping then instead of mid-morning, perhaps around midday and then after sungkai. So, insya Allah that should at least be 24oz. Oh, working hours during Ramadhan is usually shorter so perhaps, AH shall feed less milk when Im at work.

Anyway, what are other nursing mothers' experiences? Do you fast during Ramadhan? How do you ensure you have enough supply? Do you feed solids more to make up for it? Do you drink more in the evening to make up for it? What is your expressing schedule like? Do you find any changes in your milk?

Appreciate if you could share. Thanks :)

Has it really been 7 days since I last wrote something? Doesn’t feel like it but hey ho, supp

Has it really been 7 days since I last wrote something? Doesn't feel like it but hey ho, suppose anybody who is still reading this deserves something to brighten their day. Luang Prabang was pleasant enough, went out to a waterfall one day which was nice or would have been if it wasn't for the pouring rain. The best part of the 4 days I spent there was getting up just before 6am to see the monks walking down the road receiving alms from the local people. Other than that it was a fairly relaxing few days, without embarking on a tour and I haven't got the money left for those kind of extravagances, it was pretty hard to get out of town and into the hills.

I left Luang Prabang for Vang Vieng. For those of you who don't know Vang Vieng has become a kind of backpackers mecca over the past few years...and not particularly in a good way in my opinion. It is the essentially the center for adventure sports in Laos so there are some great opportunities for kayaking, caving and all that jazz. At the same time is also has a huge drug problem and I do mean big. Not in the way of one of London's tougher neighborhoods but in that there are countless cafes/restaurants/bars that just play endless repeats of Friends on the TV for the doped out masses. I've got nothing against the people who do it.....actually I do but let's disregard that...but it just ruins the place. Young travelers drinking opium spiked tea, eating 'space' pizzas or whatever else the chef has decided to spike don't exactly make the place appealing. Tubing down the river complete with bars on the side is one of SE Asia's 'rites of passage' but both the girl I met up with again in Vientiane from Luang Prabang and I didn't bother. Mostly because doing it by yourself would suck but for a couple of other reasons as well. I only ended up going to Vang Vieng to break up the journey down to Vientiane and for that it was worth it but other than that it was a pointless stopover.

Vientiane is the capital of Laos and you would hardly call it bustling with life. A population of just over 200,000 people in a fairly big area gives the impression that the city is empty most of the time. Vientiane is the one city where the French influence on Laos is nearly impossible to escape from. From the street names to bakeries, the language to the impossibly ugly rip off of the Arc De Triomophe, French influence can be seen everywhere. Not that that is a bad thing of course...especially in terms of food. Last night I found a restaurant in what appeared to be a wine cellar taken straight out of Provence complete with aging overweight French chef who did nothing but walk around talking obnoxiously to his customers whilst chain smoking filter less cigarettes. But I did have a 3 course meal for a fiver consisting of french onion soup, a superbly cooked steak with 3 different sauces and a fruit salad......Poirot I salute you.

Other than eating rather better than I am used to I visited the Buddha Staue Park for a couple of hours yesterday. This place is basically the result of some crazy man who decided that his mission in life would be to create religious statues out of concrete and plonk them all in a field. Pretty cool actually for the most part but you couldn't escape the feeling that there was something just a little but 'wrong' about the whole thing. The guy got chucked out of Laos a number of years back and did the same thing just across the river in Nong Khai (Thailand) so I might check out that one in a few days as well.

I think I'll spend another day or two here finishing things off and then head across the river back into Thailand. My plan to go to Angkor Wat for a couple of days was scuppered when I realised how expensive it would be to get to Siam Reap and then fly back to Bangkok in time for my flight to Hong Kong. Not to mention the $30 dollar per day entrance fee, so I have put that one aside for the future. I don't want to spend 5 days in Bangkok so will probably get there, dump all my stuff in storage and then leave for 2 or 3 days with just a day pack to explore Ayutthaya the old capital, the floating markets and maybe depending on if I have time the infamous Bridge Over the River Kwai. So I should be keeping busy.

Will let you all know how it goes!

x

I love Melaka. Melaka is great historic place. My father was born in Melaka. He is very proud of it. We drive down to Melaka pretty often. It's about two hour drive from Kuala Lumpur.

Melaka history in short. Melaka was founded around 1930 by a Hindu Sumatran prince, named Parameswara. The Portugues conquered it around 1511. The Dutch captured it in 1641. Malacca was given to the British by Dutch in exchange for Bencoolen (Bengkulu) in Sumatra in 1824.

Melaka is one of the most popular tourist destination in Malaysia.

I took some pictures during my previous trips to Melaka Town (Capital). I'm posting a few here. I hope you will like. I you want to see more, just ask me.[gallery]

3 Mei 2008,

Penjaga loket lagi belajar Bahasa Indonesia

Museum Ronggowarsito :

Penjaga museum masih ga percaya waktu gw bilang gw cuma datang sendiri tanpa rombongan.
Gw lari sekuat tenaga naik-turun tangga lagi. Gw ga mau kekunci di museum ini. Untunglah gw berhasil keluar sebelum semua pintu ditutup.

After the men of note practice, a large merchant ship (550 ft long and 85 ft wide), the Bludance, home ported in Malta, pulled into the shelter of Port Chilkoot and dropped her anchor then swung around into the wind. She sits there now, looking rather conspicuous, if I do say so. I've never seen any ship like her in these waters. I googled her and wound up with a link to Jane's Merchant ships that requires a purchase.

She's sitting very high in the water and is hanging off her starboard anchor, as can be seen in the photos. Needless to say, I'm quite curious what she's doing here in these waters empty, as she is. It's tempting to hail her on the VHF and ask what she's doing, but I'll probably resist the temptation. It's quite windy in the canal today and a number of fishing vessels elected not to head out to Boat Harbor this evening. Perhaps she's needing to get out of the wind for some reason.

John looks about the same, it seems. I suppose if one looks closely, he's a bit older, but so is everyone else, self included. In the photo, he's playing the local young folks in a friendly game of soccer. Jack did the purchase on the soccer shoes that he's sporting as he keeps the ball away from Chandler Kemp. I was on the Windbreaker with the mechanic that is going to install the new engine when they pulled into their slip. When I went to tie them up, the dingy was in the way and its rope was blocking the cleat, so I flubbed it and she rammed the dock.

The boys were sure happy to see him and play a little ball with him. Of course Holly and John had a great time yapping about all sorts of things and I shoed him my Motion Computing LE1600 tablet PC and the cool stuff one can do with Art Rage 2.5. He had a difficult time believing that I did the painting of Chandler, but that's to be expected. He's been reading a book called Micro trends that seems like it would be worth reading.

Margaret fixed a wonderful meal for us and we had a nice celebratory repast. Then the Men of Note rehearsed for the Saturday State Fair performance which will be at 2 PM.

Saksi bisu sejarah Propinsi DKI Jakarta, dahulunya bernama Batavia, bukan hanya milik kawasan Kota T

This weekend was a pretty busy one - I left France on Saturday morning, spent the day with my famil

This weekend was a pretty busy one - I left France on Saturday morning, spent the day with my family in Switzerland and then attended a wedding in Italy from Sunday to Wednesday. I took two days off work, which was a welcome break, plus I had a third 'free' day off for French National Day (Bastille Day) which was on the 14th of July. So I 'fled' my current 'home' country on their National Day, but to be honest I didn't really miss out on much since I'm pretty sure I've spent the last 10 or so French National Days in the country. Apart from the fireworks, I don't really feel like I missed anything, since I've already seen it all before and besides, it's basically just a bunch of Frenchmen reminiscing about the history of their country while watching the military parade down the Champs-Elysées. Possibly while eating a baguette and cheese and drinking some wine. The Frenchmen that is, not the military on the Champs-Elysées.

But back to my weekend, my family knows the family of the bride, because our fathers used to work together when we lived in the US. We used to play together, go to each others birthday parties, etc. However that was 14 years ago (the 4 kids (2 from each family) were 6, 7, 9 and 11 if my math is correct), and we haven't seen each other since then, so it was great (and kind of surreal) seeing them after all these years.

[caption id="attachment_116" align="alignleft" width="240" caption="Wedding guests and tourists mingling outside Massa Marittima's cathedral after the service"][/caption]

The wedding itself took place in the beautiful old cathedral of a town called Massa Marittima (Basilica Cattedrale di San Cerbone), in Tuscany. The ceremony was bilingual in Italian and English (some of the bride's family is Italian, some is English and the groom was American) and then afterwards the reception was held in a restaurant on the coast not far from Pisa. The restaurant had numerous terraces at different levels, all with a few giving onto the Mediterranean Sea and Elba Island, so we watched the sun set as we sipped our champagne (or rather prosecco since we were in Italy) and ate vegetable tempura, risotto, penne with crab, etc. as well as wedding cake of course!

[caption id="attachment_125" align="alignright" width="240" caption="The doors to the little boy's and girl's rooms in the reception restaurant..."][/caption]

One thing that I noticed while in Italy is that Italian shops tend to stay open quite late. We'd be wandering around the small town we were staying in (where the bride's family is from) at 10pm or even later and everyone would be out in the street eating ice cream and shopping. It reminded me of Egypt, where shops are often open late as well - presumably to avoid the heat during the summer in the afternoon. Personally I think it's a nice habit because it gives people a reason to go out in the evenings (even if they don't buy anything, there's something to do or look at) and it gives even a small village like the one we were staying in a far more lively feel, unlike so many small towns in say France or England, where everything is closed at the end of the afternoon and all you can do is go to a bar if you want to be out during the evening.

[caption id="attachment_123" align="alignleft" width="180" caption="A door within the castle grounds in Rosignano Marittimo"][/caption]

After the wedding we had a day free for ourselves, so we visited a couple of small villages, in particular Bolgheri (which was disappointing as there wasn't much to it) and Rosignano Marittimo, which was more impressive with its old castle, narrow streets and nice view of the typically Tuscan surrounding countryside. It also gave off a slightly more authentic vibe than Bolgheri (which seemed too set-up for tourists) and seemed to give a good sense of laid-back Italian country life.

It was a great weekend anyway, although the two problems with it are that now a) I feel a little left behind because even though the friend who got married is a couple of years older than me, she's the second friend of mine to get married in the last year and I'm not even close to that stage in my life and b) even though I only have 2 working days this week before the next weekend, it's incredibly hard to go back to the office, as you can probably tell by the fact that I have written this while at work...

So before I get to the fun part of this post, I have to share. The director of the daycare that we bring Nate to was fired and I'm not sure why. She sent an email around saying that she had been terminated and pretty much said that she thought that she had been terminated wrongfully. She even said that her good name was being trashed by her former staff and she couldn't understand why. Honestly, I'm not quite sure why she was terminated - I'm almost afraid to ask - because I hadn't ever seen anything wrong with the care that Nate was given. Logistically speaking though, she was never in the room taking care of Nate so I wouldn't have known, necessarily, if she had caused a problem. Should I ask her what the reason was?

Quite frankly the timing was kind of wierd too. The daycare was going through the national accrediting process. Of course, they are already state certified. And they had attained the national accreditation with flying colors, scoring in the highest percentile (Only the best for Nate!). They had JUST attained the accreditation within the last few weeks and then she's terminated. But then she sends out this email and, quite frankly, that turned me off. On the one hand I can understand that she's probably feeling hurt and wronged and wants to clear her name, but I just felt undercurrents of catty-ness all around and I didn't like that, particularly if the catty-ness was showing up in front of Nate. That's not necessarily a conducive environment for the lil man. I mean, I know that Izzy and I aren't perfect but we try to make the environment at home safe, fun and loving for Nate.

So, should I ask or what?

So I've been thinking of my bucket list. What things do I want to do or see in my life? And I've come up with the following:

Learn to knit and knit a blanket

See Italy - specifically Venice and Sicily

See Greece

See Copenhagen

Ski in the Alps and in Colorado

Write a book

Learn how to snowboard

See Tokyo, Japan

See Hong Kong

Visit all the 50 States

Read 100 books in one year

What is on your list?

I hate it.

I hate it.

It's not so much the job, but the idea of complete waste of my time. Like the fact my life is only worth £5.77 an hour. My life is, i feel, my time is worth so much more. And it's not that this job benefits my Being. If anything it merely corrupts it.

I work in a betting shop. What does that say to me? Gambling addicts, cruelty to animals, robberies, desperation and on occasion, excessively lucky people. Who wants to deal in that? What is more, I'm not even that good at math and there are like 100 different types of bets!

But money is money, i suppose. It's the repurcussions of having the most amazing time in NYC. There has to be a pay back (as in payback into my bank balance). And I'm going travelling somewhere in September.

It's just the time and energy this job takes. Im knackered (an accumulation of very very late nights and early starts + working over the week and I only got back on Saturday) so when I do have some time when I come home, I really wanna re-read the Relational Asethetics. And I can't be arsed. I can't even be bothered to look at pictures in the Matta-Clark book I got. I want to finish Art as Art - Ad Reinhardt's writings, to help inspire the continuation of writing my Art Dogmas for myself. I started writing a review on Spencer Finch's exhibition at the Lisson Galley, London but I was left feeling demotivated and sucky from my inability to hold even a linear thought.

I can't even be bothered to watch a film. I'm just going 2 sleep 2moz, and hope productivity follows. I'm planning to really start on something. Whether that be a continuation on my dissertation, or some developement in my practice (including research), finishing the review or just reading the above books. A trip 2 the movies is definately on the agenda, I need to use my Cineworld card since I haven't used it for a month +.

However being in this store does allow me a great amount of time to think about my art practice, but at the end of the day that is all it is. A bunch of thoughts not really going anywhere, not really doing anything.

psssct

" an hour of my life is worth 5.50, and I'm supposed to feed a child

scream if you're with me!! "

I don't think slavery was ever abolished. Why should they pay for your rent, your food and medical?? They merely decided that it was cheaper to renting my friends!!
