Guess what? We and the earth share many of the same properties. Who would have thunk it?

The average human body contains enough: iron to make a 3 inch nail, sulfur to kill all fleas on an average dog, carbon to make 900 pencils, potassium to fire a toy cannon, fat to make 7 bars of soap, phosphorous to make 2,200 match heads, and water to fill a ten-gallon tank.

You can find a wonderful report on the human body and what it requires in the way of trace minerals and nutrients to stay young and healthy. I am not qualified in any way to make any assumptions on the accuracy of any of the facts but I did find the report most interesting and want to share only a few little tid-bits with you. You can find the report at: http://www.traceminerals.com/humanhealth.html Minerals and Human Health: The Rationale for Optimal and Balanced Trace Element Levels by Alexander G. Schauss PhD.

Dr. Schauss states in his report that there are 92 elements and several more known and theoretical ones found in nature which may play a role in human health.

He cites another source of information regarding the absorption of these vital elements into our body, from a book by Ruth L. Pike and Myrtle L. Brown. Nutrition: An Integrated Approach (John Wiley &Sons), 1984, p.197) that: "Water is compatible with more substances than any known solvent, and therefore it is an ideal medium for transporting nutrients in the cells and for the chemical reactions of cellular metabolism to take place." So, I guess drinking good water is good for you and with that information, I may attempt to drink more of it.

The report goes on to give some vital information regarding how we need to have a certain amount of hydrochloric acid in our stomachs in order to fully digest the foods we consume, and without this balance, we suffer from gastric problems, obesity, eating disorders and all kinds of really weird things. I always thought that hydrochloric acid was very harmful and when I looked it up, here is what I found: Hydrochloric Acid – n. A clear, colorless, fuming, poisonous, highly acidic aqueous solution of hydrogen chloride, HCl, used as a chemical intermediate and in petroleum production, ore reduction, food processing, pickling, and metal cleaning. It is found in the stomach in dilute form. Aren’t we glad it is in dilute form?

And one other piece of information which really relates to anyone who has an eating disorder and finds themselves overweight, obese, bulimic or anorexic – there is one mineral that is essential to the health and well being of the human body and that is ZINC. a mineral found in every fluid, tissue, cell, and organ, in the human body. According to the report …”Inadequate intake of this essential mineral can effect any of over 200 enzymes in the body, such as the enzyme, alkaline phosphatase. In patients with either bulimia nervosa (binge-purging behavior) or anorexia nervosa (self-induced starvation), zinc deficiency can directly affect cognitive and perceptual processes that help maintain these insidious eating disorders. Recently it has been shown that there is an inverse relationship between morbid obesity and zinc, meaning that the more morbidly obese the individual the lower their zinc status. This suggests that zinc plays an important role in the entire continuum of eating disorders, from obesity to anorexia nervosa. A similar example would be the mineral magnesium which plays a role in over 300 enzyme reactions in the body, many of which are directly related to cardiovascular health.”

All this and a good healthy eating program will get you slim, trim, healthy and young, or at least younger for a long time.

There always has been a heated debate on stem-cell research and the use of it. On one hand it could save lives by growing tissues; on the other, an embryo had to be killed (for stem cells extraction), what is a moral problem.

However, recent findings prove that stem cells can be extracted from testicles (use dictionaries here:) ), thus leaving the same benefit, just removing the moral issue.

This is a total-must-to-know, because you could easily win a debate with this knowledge (if this motion still is used, of which i kinda doubt :) )

Several surgical procedures are used to treat breast cancer. The goal of each is to remove the canc

Several surgical procedures are used to treat breast cancer. The goal of each is to remove the cancer. Based on medical factors and your own feelings, you and your surgeon will decide which approach may be best for you.

Lumpectomy

The goal of lumpectomy is to remove the cancer while conserving the breast. To do this, the surgeon removes the breast tissue containing the cancer cells. Some surrounding normal tissue is also taken. This surgery does not often require a hospital stay. In most cases, it is followed by radiation therapy.

Simple Mastectomy

During a simple mastectomy, the surgeon removes all of the breast tissue, plus the nipple. This surgerymost often requires a hospital stay. Based on the results of surgery and follow-up tests, further treatment may also be needed.

Modified Radical Mastectomy

During modified radical mastectomy, the surgeon removes all breast tissue. A strip of skin containing the nipple is also taken. Some axillary lymph nodes are removed. This surgery most often requires a hospital stay. Based on the results of follow-up tests, further treatment may be needed.

Risks and Complications

As with any surgery, breast and lymph node surgery involves certain risks:

Pain or numbness (under the arm)

Bleeding or infection

Fluid collection (seroma)

Long-term swelling of the arm (lymphedema)

Stiffness of the shoulder

Week 18 - which I haven’t posted yet (I’m working on it!) had one full day of “Oh

Week 18 - which I haven't posted yet (I'm working on it!) had one full day of "Oh My God I'm Gonna Die" agony. It had to do with that gross extra breast tissue under my arm (which I go on about in Week 17.) I actually went to my doctor's office and saw the nurse practitioner (NP) for it. This was the second time I had this armpit evaluated. The first was back in April before I was pregnant, because it was swollen and it hurt. My previous OB/GYN announced it was nothing to worry about, and then he proceeded to not worry about it. No follow up. Fucker. Another reason I'm glad I changed docs.

This lump under my right arm sometimes swells up and really, really hurts. It used to happen during my period, and there was a smaller, harder more painful lump inside. Since getting pregnant, it has been fairly consistently swollen, and now there are two smaller, harder lumps in there which last week after examination, the NP stated were palpable nodes. Lymph nodes. I was referred that day for an ultrasound on my armpit to take a look. (As an aside, I must note that when I used the medical term for armpit (axillary) with the scheduling person at the Radiology department she asked, "What's that?" How confidence inspiring, really.)

"If there's an issue with the lymph nodes we'll follow it. If they get worse, they may have to come out, though I'm not expecting that."

Right.

Like a lot of people, I have a whole ton of cancer in my family so talk of swollen lymph nodes without any obvious infection symptoms made me go pale. Tell me not to worry all you want. It just. doesn't. matter.

I had the ultrasound and the tech said, "Okay, place your finger exactly on the spot where you think there's a lymph node." I found the spot - it's the most painful place on my body, so not terribly hard to miss. She put the machine over it. "I see nothing - no nodes." We looked all over that engorged lump of fatty tissue and still, no lymph nodes.

"What is it then?" I asked.

"I have no idea" she said. Comforting, right?

Apparently there was no difference between the larger lump of fleshy tissue and the harder smaller lumps inside of it, according to the ultrasound. It was all the same gross stuff. The tech left the room and showed it to the doctor, and he said "I dunno either." She said it doesn't look like breast tissue either - just some other fatty tissue.

"It doesn't look bad," she said. "You look upset! Don't be upset! There's nothing scary we're seeing here. Just tissue."

Okay, great. That's easy for someone to say who has one iota of medical or biological know-how. I do not. Strange fatty tissue masses appearing randomly in my body do not make me happy.

I'm glad nobody is worried, sure. But I have to ask - why don't the doctors want to find out what it is? Our medical system is mind boggling with its inexplicably bad communication with patients. If you had random fatty lumps growing in your body, even if they were not cancerous nor in any way dangerous, would you not have the curiosity to find out how the hell they got there?

I had a massage a few weeks ago and the massage therapist felt those two little hard lumps and said, "you have a couple of serious knots in here that are causing you this shoulder pain." I let her work on them (and it hurt so fucking bad I can't even describe it), and my nagging persistent shoulder pain did indeed decrease. But not the armpit pain.

So when the Nurse Practitioner announced they were nodes, I wasn't happy. All kinds of things went through my mind.

I really wish I'd had the wherewithall to ask a ton of questions but I was so anxious my mind was blank. "What could this mean? What are the possible causes of this? How likely are they? What are some common reasons this could happen?" Etc, etc, etc. I didn't ask any of those, and I take responsibility for that. But the nurse said virtually nothing other than, "Go get it looked at."

So in the hours before I could get the ultrasound I combed the internet. Mistake! Why? Cancer, cancer, cancer. That's why. Try googling "swollen lymph node" and "axillary" or "armpit" and see what you get. Lymphoma, breast cancer, Leukemia. These are not the things you should be reading about at 18 weeks pregnant if you don't absolutely need to. Especially if you are like me, and in your immdediate family there's one person who's had breast cancer before age 40 and another who had Leukemia before age 30.

When I'm anxious I NEED information. Need it. But without doubt it would have been better to get real information from a real medical professional, instead of from the internet. Probably better to call the doctor back and ask the questions. Maybe next time I'll be smart and do that.

Today I'm not worried. The lump has ceased to be painful for now, and what testing I've had doesn't indicate any reason to worry. I know that elevated levels of stress are not good for the little guys inside and I've nothing to hang my worry on anyway.

A mammogram would totally rule out any scary cancer related stuff here, but obviously I can't get that now. I had a baseline done when I was 37 because as I said, I have a lot of cancer in my family. It was perfectly normal. My breast exam last week was perfectly normal too.

When it's all said and done I'll get another mammogram anyway, given that some studies have shown an increased risk of breast cancer among women undergoing IVF treatment. But I'm not going to worry about it. No, really.

I've got maybe 19 weeks to go now before the little ones are here, and it seems if I'd like to worry, there are a great many other worries to choose from.

My memories of handkerchiefs are from primany school as more of an uniform accesory. Since they were all starched up they were useless to blow your nose in and later on came the hygenic argument. Or the handkerchief as an old romantic item : to wave goodbye with, used by high life ladies to flirt, etc.

Recently I've seen them come into use again, amongst young people. Since it defied my image of the hanky it made me give it a second thought. And soon enough the "eco" argument popped up, as hankies are reusable and kleenex-types are not.

A short googling later I discovered Greenpeace beat me to the punch and already have had for some time a program called Kleerkut.

Apparently the Kimberly-Clark corp(makers of Kleenex) uses only 19% recyclable material in making tissues , the rest coming from a big old forest in Canada- figures being just for North America.

To support the boycott Greenpeace is providing us with the solution as well: organic(duh!) hankies 3 for 10 $ .

Alongside greenpeace and before myself other eco-conscious blogers(not that I am claiming to be one) like ecospace and wasteweardaily and stumbled upon this matter.

hankies do have another one over the tissues... "hanky" sounds way cuter.

I've been looking around, trying to find a tv stand, coffee table and an occasional chair. As you can tell by this tissue box I found in one of the furniture store's bathroom, these stores are full of style. The first store I went to was full of leather, like every chair in there was covered in dead cow, and really expensive. I'm not exactly short on bobbles, but $5000 is a bit much for a chair. The other furniture store I went to was much more affordable, but severely lacking in style.

So I returned home slightly dejected, but still hopeful....and to the internets I went. But I quickly found out that Target, Crate & Barrel and Ikea don't ship here. For serious they all claim to ship to Alaska (except Target) but not to Fairbanks, the 2nd larget city in Alaska? Also Wal-Mart doesn't do Ship-to-Store to Alaska at all. I'm thinking Potterybarn is my last hope.

Everyone in life takes or makes their own journey. We all have and still do. For me, this is my story. Well the short, short, version of why it took so long to get into, rather back into, the Craft.

At an early age I knew there were certain “things” I could do with my mind and the weather. Over the years I had been seeking the answer of “how it was possible”. I would think to myself that there is no way a “normal” human being could do the things I was doing and continuing to do.

I ended up reading a lot of psychology books, self help guru stuff, etc. etc. but one day watching The Montel Williams show, I learned about Sylvia Brown. I watched the show with great attention. As we all know now, she is a psychic, author, and mother. I became very intrigued, so I did what every red-blooded American does - I bought her book. I found the information in there helpful, especially on the power of the mind. However, once I got to her third publication, I steered clear. In no way am I a critic, but I found it repetitious, and she had started her own church.

Well, we have to fast forward now a few years. I have by this time tried to ignore the things I can do. I’m into magazines, cloths, drinkn’, and all kinds of other things to ignore “my abilities”. While on an excursion to the local bookstore, I caught a glimpse of the shelf containing all these books by Sylvia Brown. “Damn”, I thought to myself, “she’s been busy”. Then I see it is located in the occult section - I.e. “witchy stuff”. Again, thinking to myself, “oh hell”. I go to pick-up a book and stop. I whip around to go and get latest Vogue. By this time though, something was “sparked“. I am start listening to my gut again, oh, and mom. Her ever insistence on “Where is your luck? Get it back!”, or “Hey weather witch! Why is it so hot? What are you mad about now” - to which I always gaffed the comments off.

Till one day…..

I was in love. Oh, man I really felt I was going to be with this particular person forever. We had finally “hooked up” and true feelings were coming through. Alas, after two years, it wasn’t going to happen. I got an e-mail of all things. I remember sinking in my chair at the office and crying. I remember telling myself “I’d been through worse and a broken heart <insert more crying> was nothing. Put on your “brace face” and get your job done”. So with poofy eyes, streams of tears, and plenty of tissue, I finished out my day at the office and went home. I immediately went to my room at my mom’s house, yes, I lived with my mom, and changed my clothes. I was sitting there for about five minutes before I went to the living room. I got the barrage of questioning due to my poofy eyes and cheeks. Then I decided I wasn’t hungry at all. Went back to my room and laid down.

I remember I began to focus on one of my favorite castle pictures. It is a castle in the Black Forest of Germany and it is known to all throughout the world. To the right of the castle is another one. This one appears smaller and hidden in the picture - at least it had been to me before that moment. That is when my mom came to check on me right after this amazing discovery. She brushed the bangs from my eyes, kissed my on my cheek and told me, “I would be okay. That it is better I know now he wasn’t that into me.” Of course this is not something you really want to hear. Finally she left.

There I was, laying on my bed and situating myself as I had use to do as a child, I began to focus and focus hard. These “abilities” and my gut wanting me to pay attention fine, I was paying attention. I used a lot of geographic visualization, images and my own energy. As my eyes were closed and my mind opening and energy focusing, two women’s voices rang through ever so clearly, plus the face of one.

“NO! You can’t do this!” To which I responded, “YES! I can!..”, while sending an visual wave of energy pushing them back, and saying, “watch this!”

At some point, I fell asleep that night. I awoke to what I created, conjured, called up. The beginning of a hurricane, just fresh off the coast of Africa. My mom looked at me and straight out asked me, “did you have anything to do with this?” With a smile on my face, I told her “nope , gotta go to work.”

I remember the hurricane that sat for three weeks off the coast of America. Scientist were freakn’ out because it just sat there, though the winds should have moved it. For three weeks, it churned and really started listening to my gut. I reminded myself over that time saying, “innocent people live on the coastline” - “love is still out there” - “he’s just one guy” - “who were those women” - all sorts of things. By the time it to hit land, it was a “strong tropical depression”. Hence, no loss of life or major damage happened. This was a turning point.

Now, we have to fast forward again a few years. I meet a witch, and her “witchy” boyfriend. They both adorn the symbols I’d never seen before but felt like I had. It, the Craft, had been touched on in conversation before. It was one night while keeping her company, I was told about candle magic. Still shy to the subject but listening, I finally gave it some more thought, “the Craft”.

Once I started reading books by Scott Cunningham, DJ Conway, and Silver RavenWolf, I started to understand. I started to understand me. All the years gone by - I finally began to wake up. It was in the initial beginning phases, being three months, twenty books read, with cross-referencing done, that I came across Silver RavenWolf’s picture. It was her! The woman’s voice and face I saw a few years ago! That was a total surprise.

So, what am I getting at here?? The information contained here is set into what I feel is the best order of learning for the Natural Witch or , the witch in you. There is a lot of negativity out in the world today and leaving the “door open”, so to speak, will hurt you.

I strongly suggest and recommend that if you - the individual - who feels and knows you are different - to do your homework! Read. Cross-reference. Expand on the material. The material that should be free, is listed here. No patent/copyright should stifle wording on the Craft principles or circle casting etc. - why?? It will only cause problems in the future.

Now, understand, that what one person opinion is doesn’t necessarily mean it should or could be yours. I live by the, “I agree to a point but will disagree and fight for it, once I have either a logical or higher answer.” For example: RavenWolf is big on boundaries and physic laws - to a degree she is right. (Magick is what you put into it.) However, with the proper use of a person’s mind - the rules of science and physics, can be broken.

Remember: Time only exists here. What you do will affect the things around you. And most importantly, whatever you conjure or summon is owned by you. You will have to repay any karmic debts if you choose to misuse. With that said, will you be a “good witch or a bad witch”?

Read. Think. Study.

Good googily moogily did I do some emotional catch up today. Yesterday was my wedding anniversary; I was impressed with my detachment and stability yesterday. Today, however... today I caught up.

Some years ago, way before I got married, I had a cat. I'd leave him at home with a big bowl of food when I went away for the weekend. He seemed cool with it, but everytime he'd wait a few days after I got home and then puke. That always impressed me. Not the puke, 'cause you know it was always on the carpet, but his coping skills. He'd be tough and weather the storm while I was gone. He'd even maintain his stoicism for a few days when I got back. But once we'd settled back into our groove and the coast was clear, he'd let all the stress surface and get sick.

Most of us, the cat included, can deal with crisis when we're in it. We can even keep it together for a little while afterwards, but the art of coping is letting it all hang out as soon as its safe. Know that it's all gonna hang out sooner or later. There's no such thing as not reacting - it's just a matter of timing. The sooner you can decompress the better; the alternative being carrying the stress with you packed in that little tupperware hidden in the back of your brain. The danger there is that the tupperware is going to burst at the most inopportune time and in the direction of an otherwise innocent bystander.

So, I'm pretty pleased that my delayed reaction came within 24 hours of the actual angst. Yesterday would have been our eighth wedding anniversary. Today at 3pm I had a session with my business / book coach (the amazing Anne Loehr). She's a genuinely kind person, and when she asked me sincerely: "How are you doing?", I started to cry. I really didn't want to, I was wearing mascara and had plans for the evening, but after fighting it for a bit I broke down. I was overcome. I wanted to go home, take a walk to the river, make dinner and go to bed. So that's what I did. I packed my pockets with tissues, grabbed my Ipod, went down to the river and cried. It was really lovely, if you can believe that. I was lettin' it all out; it felt good. It was cool and breezy and the water was up high. Everything seemed lush and full of promise. I came on home. Thus ends today, the day after what would have been my wedding anniversary.

Major aging gene found?

We found that over activity of angiotensin I-converting enzyme (ACE), specifically the ACE deletion/deletion (D/D) genotype, was associated with many common diseases, including renal failure (ref. 2 below).

This was in 1993, when ACE inhibitors had already been used for a decade. So what were nephrologists (including me) doing wrong?

It turned out the dose of ACE inhibitor we were using was too low, as was the hydrophobicity--how fat-loving the drug was (ref. 3).

Tissue (membrane-bound) ACE seems to require at least a 30 times higher dose to inhibit than serum ACE. The explanation may be the secretase that "bear-hugs" the ACE enzyme on the membrane, limiting access of substrate to the active site. Functionally, this could just take the form of the lid being "hugged" shut (ref. 5).

In any event, going up 5-fold on the dose of a hydrophobic ACE inhibitor, quinapril, did the trick (ref. 1). We were able to reverse diabetic and hypertensive kidney failure in white and black male veterans seen at the St. Louis VA Medical Center. An additional 800 white and black male veterans with normal kidney function were kept from progressing (ref. 1).

And, in unpublished data, 350 Hispanic men and women with diabetes were kept from renal progression at La Clinica, an indigent-care clinic in St. Louis.

One of the nice features of this first triumph of genomic epidemiology (1) is that ACE genotyping is not required: everybody seems to have too much ACE activity. Put another way, renal disease travels the same pathway in everybody, even though only about a third of patients show that ACE is part of the pathway.

I have high hopes for ACE inhibitors and ARBs in additional diseases (2,5-8,10). ACE is not only the "African gene (11)," responsible for the higher incidence of renal failure among blacks than whites, but probably the major aging gene for vertebrates (5). Just putting the country's population above the age of 25 or 30 on the right ACE inhibitor at the right dose should extend life by a decade. It should also keep their pets healthier for several extra years, too.

And then if people agree to die at home rather than in the hospital, we might save healthcare costs by at least 10%.

GenoMed has applied for patent protection on this material, and would like our Next Generation DM(tm) to become the standard of care globally. Needless to say, a $25 billion a year industry prefers not to go out of business (9), so we need all the publicity we can get to save healthcare costs while improving patient outcomes.

This is a surgical operation to remove lump in the breast.

Tissue from a solid breast mass can be removed by needle biopsy. This procedure places a needle into the lump to take out a piece of tissue. The tissue is then checked for cancer cells.

If the entire lump is surgically removed, the procedure is called a lumpectomy. For a lumpectomy, general or local anesthesia with or without sedatives is used. Once the area is pain-free, an incision is made and the lump is removed, as is the surrounding rim of normal breast tissue. The lump is then sent to a laboratory for examination.

For a fluid-filled lump (cyst), a needle and syringe are used to drain fluid. If the fluid is clear or green and not bloody, and the cyst disappears completely when drained, nothing further needs to be done. If the fluid is bloody, it is sent to the laboratory for analysis. If there is still a lump after the cyst fluid is drained, or if the lump disappears but returns later, surgery is usually done to remove it.

1. Tiap orang mempunyai sel kanker.
