Since the 1st January 2008 I've been taking and publishing on flickr at least one picture a day.

So far, against all odds, I've not missed a day. I'm part of a group on flickr that all started at the beginning of the year and gradually and for various reasons, many people have dropped out. Often it was that people ran out of inspiration, but more often recently it has been because people have missed one or more days and are so annoyed with themselves that they give up.

Whilst I've been fairly diligent in getting the daily shot, I am getting quite weary of the project. I've been taking pictures of 'anything' just to get the daily picture and I now feel that I've missed the chance to be more creative and interesting. I think now, that I should have had one or more things that I should have set out to photograph - projects within the project.

One I thought of recently would be to take a picture of every meal, every day for a year. Slightly mundane on it's own, it would be interesting to have a record of your dinner every day. I just re-read this and it seems quite a dweeby idea.

I have three months to go and unless I have equipment failure or a major illness I think I'll complete the project. I've not been looking forward to it for a while though and in many ways it's stifling other, smaller projects that i'd like to do. In a way I feel it's draining my creativity from what could be more interesting things. Or is it I've just lost interest?

I've also been mulling over many of the things that I've learnt and I've built up a number of thoughts and maybe advice on doing a project like this. I may save this for a separate post.

I used a dark heavy denim for the house, a grey linen napkin for the roof, an embroidered linen for the wall paper and green flannel for the garden.

As I mentioned before, the pattern is up at UK Lass in the US's blog. I made a few small adjustments to her pattern: 1) instead of duct taping the batting on, I loosely stitched it on; 2) only one handle instead of two (my own laziness); 3) I put the button loop elastics in by sewing first then ripping out a small place for them with my seam ripper, which was a mistake the first time but it worked well so I did it on the other side too; and 4) I sewed through all of the spaces in between plastic. I just figured it would hold up better that way, even if there is a seam in the garden.

It appears to be a hit. Eleanor already informed me that Hello Kitty lives there, apparently along with a small cow.

And, on another totally random note, doing this project reminded me of the show "The Polka Dot Door".  We used to watch it when we would visit my Nana and for some reason, the theme song has always stuck with me.  Just for fun I looked it up on You Tube, check it out for yourself here.

Our residency project is about the curiosity awakened in us as visitors to the Island. We are strangers, and the Island is strange to us. We want to know what shapes daily life here, and what shaped it 150 years ago.

We document this exploration by taking photos and blogging about it here (and on Flickr).

Our talk is more about the process, how we sate our curiosity, and less about what facts we gather. We can not tell the story of the Island, we can only tell our own story.

For those of you who dont know yet, I am busy working on cosplaying as Travis Touchdown from No More Heroes for a upcoming cosplay event at the end of the year. I created a special page the chronicles my progress just click on the above image to be taken to the page.

Okay I just finished this one today. When I started it I had a very specific plan but as the work progressed the plan simply wouldn’t work. I ended up cutting the background out and just keeping what you see as a portrait. So now I have to think of a title for it. Anyone have any ideas? I’m totally open to suggestions!

Now half of the back of my hand is red, not to mention that it hurts so much. Ugh it took forever for me to get to sleep because I was in excruciating pain. So I decided to smother my burn with toothpaste... Aw my sister made me hot chocolate, but didn't give it to me until it cooled off. She's afraid that I might burn my tongue as well <3.

Summary of weekend:

• Friday: parents droveeee me to french. First day of new (transferred!) classes. No more young people... now they're all about my age. Sweet. Went to B.C's house after to eat.. de^, bun and mam tom. I have discovered a new love: mam tom! Geez why couldn't my mom have made that for me all these years? I've been missing out for 15 years?! *sigh
• Sat: Bussed with sister to her french class-- because she doesn't know the way yet. Stayed at oakridge for about an hour until it was time for class. During her class I stayed in the library there. Looked around, read a bunch of things, read magazines. It was pretty okay. I have to take the D. exam! I WANT A DIPLOMA!!!--even though it's the lowest one. J volunteered at Light the night at 5 and I had work. Got my paycheck!
• Sun: stayed home and did my project all day.

I've noticed that all the money I have made at work(which is not a lot), I have not spent any of it. I have only spent my tips. It's such a hassle to use my debit cause I have to move it from 1 account to another a day in advance, or to withdraw cash. Lazy lazy. So I don't really buy much. (HA! saves me money~). I love tips.
