There's this infamous guy that orders from nyp pretty frequently. Let's call him D. So I decided to put my life on the line and go to his house wired. The legacy begins. He must like me because they gave me about a $20 tip. Nothing too exciting happens this time... but I hope I will be able to record D ordering over the phone because that is when his true character shines through.

Ku Li reforms:Direct elections for UMNO president, single BN party

From Malaysian Insider:

Ku Li reforms:Direct elections for UMNO president, single BN party

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah plans to turn the Barisan Nasional coalition into a single political party with direct membership and an elected leader if he wins the Umno presidency.

As part of a slew of radical reforms he plans to introduce to BN and Umno, the 71-year-old leader also wants future Umno presidents to be directly elected.

"I am suggesting that BN becomes a multiracial party open to all. Umno members can, for example, be direct members of BN," he told The Malaysian Insider in an interview.

"As soon as I become Umno president I will propose this."

Tengku Razaleigh said he would announce at a later date the details of how he planned to turn BN into a single political party, and explain how such a proposal would affect the interest of all component members.

All he would say now was that, under his proposal, BN members would elect their leaders directly.

Tengku Razaleigh has been the only person so far to have offered himself as a candidate for the Umno presidency. He is likely to take on Datuk Seri Najib Razak if Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi decides not to defend the post.

Asked about the kind of reforms he hopes to bring to Umno, Tengku Razaleigh said there should be direct elections at all levels of leadership, including that of the presidency.

"We have three million over members. If we give them the right to elect leaders at various levels we can get rid of money politics," he said.

"There is a need to democratise Umno. Power should be given back to members instead of being concentrated at the top."

He said that "when the masses are beholden to the leadership, we will not move forward."

As a further step to democratise Umno, Tengku Razaleigh said he would also introduce a proposal to allow members from each division to directly select candidates for the general elections.

He also wants to introduce some form of term limit in the party. "Maybe the president of Umno should be allowed to hold the post for eight or nine years at most."

Explaining the reasons behind the radical reforms he was suggesting, the Umno veteran said it was because he sees "Umno heading down."

"I do not think Umno can survive the next elections. People are simply going for material gains now for themselves and their supporters. People are becoming more corrupt.

"This is not the purpose of the party. It is for serving the people and it must be in tip-top condition to do that."

Mr. Razaleigh's reforms are quite interesting indeed. He must the first prominent UMNO leader who has mooted the idea of a single Barisan Nasional party. Many other Barisan leaders from the MCA, Gerakan and PPP have suggested that the Barisan merge, but Mr. Razaleigh seems to be the first voice from UMNO, the dominant partner in the coalition.

I must say that in a climate where UMNO's (very blatant) strategy is to convince the Malays that they need UMNO, it takes a brave man to propose reforms such as the ones mooted by Mr. Razaleigh. I simply do not think that the rank and file UMNO members at this present time would ever contemplate, much less agree to such a proposal. Especially since the majority of Malays who support the party are convinced that UMNO is needed to safeguard the Malays. Their arsenal thus far has been Pakatan's multi-racial stance and for UMNO and Barisan to go the same route would be akin to blasphemy to some of them.

Yet the way forward for UMNO and Barisan must be to merge. Racial politics can only last for so long. If ten years ago most Malaysians thought that the 'Barisan formula' of 'power-sharing between races' is best form of governance in the country, now we can safely say that around half of Malaysia's population are willing to forgo racial interests for the greater good of the country.

But Mr. Razaleigh would be very hard pressed to sell his reform ideas to his UMNO coleagues. To many of them, the problem with UMNO lies with its current president. A change of leadership would return the people's support to them. I do not agree with this view. They are far bigger and more inherent problems within the party that no amount of leadership change can remedy. But it would seem that this fact has escaped many in UMNO.

Maybe Mr. Razaleigh's proposal for reforms are his way to rejuvanate his bid for the top post. It is widely expected that Mr. Abdullah would not seek re-election as UMNO president, which would mean that Mr. Najib would be next in line. Whilst a contest between Mr. Abdullah and Mr. Razaleigh would have been close, a contest between Mr. Najib and Mr. Razaleigh would almost certainly result in victory for the former.

Regardless of his motive, UMNO needs more people like Mr. Razaleigh, to moot ideas of reform into the party. The members might not buy it as yet, but for the future of the party, hopefully they will one day.

Not that I care much for the party.

Syed Hamid Albar - I try not to mock him too much since he is an easy prey - was aghast with the Hindraf supporters who decided to go see the prime minister for his open house on raya first day. He was absolutely livid about it, and my thoughts are, why does the good minister think that he has more rights to see the prime minister than these voters - for an open house that asks all Malaysians to come over?

Qualifiers then

If the home minister and the prime minister are of the opinion that when they meant open house, they meant open to those who subscribe to Barisan politics. That would make it clear, at least to us the rakyat. I do like to know whose money the PM used for the function anyhow.

Please place in small print, like any good lawyer - look! I'm saying something nice about Syed Hamid Albar - that the event is strictly for BN fans.

The real contention

The castigation is about the fact, people are willing to politicise a social engagement. Which is a fair statement, if it were a sensible society. But it is not.

The PM might, but the home minister won't I hope, fail to realise that the five Hindraf men are in prison because the home minister placed them there under his discretion, under his interpretation of danger to society.

And the men and their families and their friends and their supporters are deprived the right to contest the arrest, so what do you expect to do?

If you arrest men because of their political conviction, then you are politicising justice. And if so, they are justified nay required to court and harass you to rectify your decision to remove their basic human rights.

Sorry PM, you removed the right to have a truce for your functions when you compromise unconstitutionally other people's liberty.

The real contention is that you could not swat them down with water cannons or FRU batons because your guests are there with cameras ensuing. And you can't leave your own event. The tragedy for you and your home minister was that you had to confront your accusers, and Umno politicians have always struggled to deal with any fair fights.

They like subservience from all and sundry, actually they demand it - like the feudal lords they are.

Dialogue

The reason they gatecrashed is because they don't get a forum really to talk about this sticky situation. Governments have the moral obligation to meet its constituents on fair terms and if that is impossible, then to persuade the constituents nevertheless. That is how the Malaysian government will get the real respect of other nations, because right now - yes Hamid, they won't say it to you in your face - they think the country is run by a bunch of self-indulgent brats.

Governments must always lead dialogue, or they lose their populace. And no, hate ceramahs by the Biro Tata Negara don't qualify.

The MIC cometh

The Samy come lately in this travesty is MIC. Coming in with standard swagger, they chastise the Hindraf guys for being too gung-ho with their Raya instrusion.

Now they claim, their sincere efforts to plead for the Hindraf five to the BN government may fall apart.

Firstly mates, you are a member of the BN, having to beg while being an equal member is really unbecoming. Secondly, what do you expect these Hindraf supporters to do, to beg like you guys?

The whole momentum of Hindraf is of not playing the game of compliant minority, which is pretty much the successful path of all minorities in modern times. Only a fool would think cajoling the Umno leadership ceaselessly will get you real things - nothing more than a ministership for you for 28 years.

Gatecrashing

A point of realisation has dawned upon Malaysians since late 2007, only now is it crystalising into a cognisant tactic.

You have to push the BN using not their rules and pushing them from all points. They are severely undermanned - decades of blind loyalty numbs the minds of those who remain and chases away the rest. The party is rotten to the core.

Why must the PM of this country have an easy ride and when he likes it have the right to torment his people? The 15h Century is over Torquemada, so Umno just deal with widespread dissent.

Dialogue and we all move forward. Don't, you will start to look relevance while the rest of the rakyat head towards the 21st Century.

Both the MIC and Hindraf are fighting to get five of the group’s leaders freed from Internal Security Act (ISA) detention but they are using different approaches. (the Star 6/10/08; MIC doens't agree with Hindraf's method says Subra)

Err, since when MIC fight for the Hindraf leaders huh? Just because they make one/two press statement, that consider "fight"? I thought that is call CHEAP PUBLISITY not FIGHT. If the MIC don't dare to stand up for their people, the least you could do is keep you mouth shut.

Hindraf went over the limit (NST 6/10/08)

Oh, so MIC means arresting someone without trial without proof absolutely nothing and leave them separated from their familiy members is within limit, but visiting open house with the ISA detainees children and asking for their release is over the limit la. Bringing along their childrens is a reminder to the PM as well as other "leaders" that while ISA detainees inside Kamunting, it's their family members outside that suffered the most. Imagine the family lost the sole bread winners, worst still, a child grown up without their father's presence. The more BN "leaders" talk the more stupid and inconsiderate they showed to the RAKYAT.

"The Malays, through UMNO, were generous enough to relax the citizenship laws of this country to such extent that within 12 months of independence, 90 percent were still non-citizens after nearly 100 years of colonial rule in the Malay States. In return for this major concession. the MCA and the MIC agreed to continue the policy of preserving the special position of the Malays while at the same time upholding the legitimate interest of other communities."

UCAPAN PRESIDEN MIC merangkapMENTERI KERJAYA RAYA, POS DAN TELEKOM, TUN V.T. SAMBANTHAN DI DEWAN RAKYAT PADA 1 JUN 1965.

"Now, in 1955 we won the elections with a great majority. Then we obtained freedom in two years time. During this period, we had to discuss citizenship and various other things. Now what did the Malays do - since we are speaking on racial lines - what did the Malay leadership do? The had 88 percent of the electorate still with them. What did they do with citizenship?

If we look around in Asia and East Asia, particularly, you will find that my race the indian race, is not welcomed in Ceylon, is not welcomed in Burma. Look at my brother Chinnese race, it is not welcomed in Thailand, in Vietnam, in Cambodia, in all the other areas. What help do they get for citizenship in all these territories? In Burma, as we know, Indian have been send packing, in Ceylon they refused them citizenship and in Burma it is likewise. I know it, you know it. And yet in Malaya what happened? Here we found that the Malay leadership said, "We shall tkae them unto ourselves as brothers, we shall give them full opportunity to live in this country, we shall give them every opportunity to become citizens." And so, in 1957, for the whole year, we waived language qualifications, and tens of thousand of Indians, Chinnese, Ceylonese and others became citizens...

As I said, it has been my great good fortune to have born in this country. Where else can you find a more charitable, a more polite, a more decent race than Malay race? Where else can you get such politically decent treatment for any immigrant race? Where else in the history of the world? I ask you. These are the facts. Who are you to safeguards us? I am 10 percent minority race here. But I am happy here."

- Sumber Tan Sri Khalid Awang Osman, Malaysia - An Anthology, Vantage Press, New York, hal. 60

Part 2: So we start off, Taemin is the most popular in her noona group. LoL TM and Onew are like *we don't hafta cook today :D* Then she reveals that JH is the only person to eat her fermented soybean stew. AND EVERYONE'S HOPES ARE DASHED. look at minho's crestfallen face @ :32 x[ but then she's like, but look here! I bought everyone else this food from a restaurant! XD AND EVERYONE... or Onew voicing everyone's opinion IS LIKE, OH! "I LIKE THIS BETTER!" Noona is offended, but JH is like... OH I LIKE YOUR STEW BETTER. and *awkward* happens as noona is like OMG*TOUCHJONGHYUN CRUSADE* Okay, that wasn't as bad as I'm making it out to be, but still... xD hilarious. Then everyone goes into the room and finds that all their stuff has been messed with... Onew is mad... cause all his music sheets were strewn on the floor >:[ "I DON'T LIKE HER." he says. let me fume with you, Onew dear :/ Then JH turns around and sees... SCARYNOONA ONHISWALL WATCHING HIS EVERY MOVE. XD And he jumps like OMO! And Taeminnie is like... "Instead of being envious, I felt bad for JH hyung. *laughs*" XD I'm right there with you, Taemin. This noona is SO SCARY! XD They play horror music as she asks if Taemin remembers when they first met. AND EVERYBODY IS LIKE, whUT? *SCAREDFACE* and then she's like.. you don't remember? JHbb?? And he's like.. i remember. answer: early replay days. i'm not really sure about the actual answer since the cuts were pretty bad XD Then CUTSCENE to the room, where Minho is laying down on his bed... then the cameraman is like.. is anything missing? ... Like your emergency fund? XDXDXD And MH JUMPED and was like D:
*DOINK* WHERE MY MONEY AT? Next scene, noona brings out N.E.R.D.'s new album (didn't know about that) to show Key and JH. Key has a new red ribbon for his foil!mic, I just noticed. XD It looks like if you unwrap it, it could be a candy apple or something XD lol. Anyways, JH points at the album and is like "I have those pants." and noona says, "Can you give me the pants?" E'ERYBODY GOES WTF? GTFO! She's like, I'm giving you the CD for your pants. what size are they? JH: I wear pants big, so it's 30 inches. Noona: It's my size! XD LoL uhhhhhh. XD Sigh. Minho is pacing around everywhere looking for his money. And he borrows cameraman's cellphone to call someone to ask about his money :/ WHO'S MAD AT NOONA?? D:< make minho poor, will you? *FACE THE FANS FURY XD* Then outside, Jonghyun trades instead his much loved Chris Brown album. I do see similarities in their singing style xD only JH is Koreanized. haha. Noona encourages them by saying that she thinks SHINee will do better than Chris Brown. Well, one can only hope XD Onew comes in suddenly and is like.. "LA!" Noona gets mad. I think maybe Onew is the one to reveal the stolen objects? The editting doesn't make it clear. XD WE NEED SOMEONE TO TRANSLATE CAPTIONS TOO. And the search begins... SHINee finds out that she stole all their stuff! xDXDXD SO FUNNY. ONEW IS LIKE *SOLEMNSMILES* "I'll fix your habit of taking things." AND NOONA GETS UP TO RUN!!! LOL Then another cut scene, noona's saying that SHINee should be a 4 person group cause something bad is in SHINee. Onew??? BLASPHEMY! Onew has started borrowing Key's mic too XD I just noticed. I THOUGHT HE HAD HIS OWN? What happened to that one? XD Onew was frustrated I think. Key and JH got all the attn and Onew just kept on with the Onew Condition~ WHY WON'T ANYONE PICK HIM!?!? He's... funny. XD no, really. Then noona asks, y'all know where Minho's moneybagz is? REVEALS. XD Taemin is helping Minho look and is like "are you sure that it's gone?" and minho is like.. yea. and *SADFACELAUGHTER* at Minho @4:30 when he's like "Noona took it... didn't she." Back to outside, noona bribes onew to leave. cause he was interrupting them? she didn't like him. well, he doesn't like her either. so i guess that's fair. but then she was like we're filming all day, so come back at 7! the camera's won't follow you!" Then she tells minho that she took his money. and laughs. :| tis not as funny as everything else. *oh look and Onew is back XD* He was saving that money to buy a gift for Keys birthday!!! :[ SUCH A GOOD CAUSE. Then she thought he was mad and was like "I'll get on my knees" making him look like the bad guy. WHAT A BAD NOONA. :[ and she confessed that he came to her later and was like, "I wasn't really mad." she said that he actually talked well. haha. MINHO IS AWESOMENESS. Especially in the next scene, it's morning and noona made them all stew for breakfast? confessional!Taemin was like, i didn't understand, hyungs were eating with smiles, but they looked like they wanted to cry. XD HAHAHA Minho @6:14 is REALLY CUTE. D: TRUFAX = NOLIES. Noona talks about Onew for a bit and how she thinks he's a pure person, so it's hard for him to talk to her. He does this weird thing at the table. He has no chair, so he kneels on the floor even though the table is really high, then rises up slowly as if he were growing as he ate xD haha. and noona keeps going, "He's funny! It's weird!" XD LOL "he seems like a child who wants attn" haha. true. They all seem to enjoy the meal. noona has a schedule, so she has to leave finally.

Part 3: but she's cleaned their rooms and left a surprise on their computer hope it's not just that homepage i should've hoped for something else cause their desktop was HER SCARY FACE. XD and i think JH or Taemin turned off the monitor XD HAHAHAHAHA. and they read her blog. haha. In the van, they talk about their impressions of noona. Taemin was shocked "a little." Apparently, he's always shocked "a little." Cute Taeminnie. They all asked Minho in unison. xD JH felt noona was very interested in himself and Key. They reveal that Taemin likes Kimchi wrap rather than steaks. KIMCHI WRAP FLOWER BOYS. They play a game that I can't recognize. But noona is waiting creepily on a rooftop... in a wedding like outfit. Key was like "The other members probably were shocked, but I looked on the bright side." WHAT BRIGHT SIDE? NOONA'S FRONT? OR BACK? OR WAS IT HER TIARA??? XD IT WAS AN ENGAGEMENT PARTY!!! She was wearing rubber gloves? haha, OMG JH in the confessional with Key's foil!mic! XD LOL. That mic's gettin' around. xD LOL The member's give words of encouragement, wishing them happiness and syaing a lot of ppl came. even ancestors *points at empty chairs* JH sings "Graze" for noona... and she thinks JH thinks on he feet. "Did he write this song cause he knew he'd be in this situation?" LoL... I don't know. Only if you count when he sang "What is this miserable feeling~" XD jk haha. So they stand and fake the stage where they win 1st place on MNet Countdown, and all this rookie stuff about loving SHINee World forever. XD but we love them anyways. what is minho doing? Catching rain? With a wine glass no less! LOOKS LIKE A PERFECT MODEL XD LOVE <3 WAI SO BEAUTIFUL, MINHO? He could be the Korean Edward Cullen! ... not the movie version. It's raining so Noona is like Staff, why'd you pick this day? you prob knew of the weather, you should be embarrassed! xD And so, they are engaged. Someone even decorated their van with marriage banners. The FIRST COMEDIAN SIGNER COUPLE as Jisun noona says. They talk about JH's ideal woman. Noona said "In order to look natural, I didn't put on any makeup" haha. funny thing is she gets mad about the ideal woman thing and wants some payment. She wants JH to do some small show of affection or confession during their stage performance. He tries to negotiate out of it by suggesting whoever gets the chance to do it has to. noona is like, if you don't do it, I'll come to your dorm and cook stew for you every morning. LOL one time was enough apparently. XD They do the SHINee "ULTRA SHINEE TRANSFORMATION" like "GoGo Power Rangers!" or the Sailormoon "In the name of love!" kinda thing xD and then WHO WILL SUCCEED IN THIS MISSION!? We'll fnd out next week! x]

Personally, though this Jisun noona came on strong and was psycho with a side of insane and a cherry on top, she was sorta hilarious. I think it was the comedian in her. I could tell she was not taking this seriously... by trying to act too serious. LOL especially about Jonghyun. Too bad about Onew though :/ He was really doomed from the start. Now JH has been chosen 3 times :/ I mean, yeah, he's the most outgoing and clownish along with Key, and one of the... more viable boys. but really? I would choose Minho or Onew over either of them XD Of course, that is my definite bias showing, but yes. MY BIAS. IT BURNS. LET ME BRAND YOU WITH IT. :D They just have so much more character. Maybe it's just my liking for more mature and blank smiley guys. xD understand? probably not... AHhhhh lol.

Here's my cap of ep 8 pt 1, as promised... Sorry... it really IS a GREAT episode... I just... GOT LAZY *DED* haha. ah well. I can't help it that I had so much good commentary that my brain died on me XD

---

HAHA, yeah, don't I suck. This episode has been out for a while but i've just been lazy. xD Though I've really been wanting to SPAZDIE over this... CAUSE IT'S JUST SO CHOCK FULL OF MINHO-AWESOME D:

Part 1: Okay, so they meet up in a gym and there's badminton rackets, balls, ribbons, and hula hoops there and SHINee is being utterly and unbelievably aegyo (esp when Jonghyun is like "I want the hula hoop. I need to get rid of my belly fat." and we all say whut?). So they're all trying to guess what they're doin' there... and JH is like.. we have a hula hoop! and rhythm (lideum)! and Onew is like... that's a ribbon (libon). JH: oh, that's right. hahaha. XD I love you, Korean English loanwords. and then *guess guess* and everybody's really confused. Even Minho is like "Did the noona change?" But then noona comes in really cutely and elegantly too, doing her gymnstics! and SHINee is like *JAWDROP. LOL @ Minho's face @1:44. They find out she was a Korean Rep for Rhythmic Gymnstics and LOL @ JH's rxn at 1:50 XD HAHA. They're so surprised and amazed. It's cute. xD Of course, KEY is so demanding... he's like... can you do it again since you only did it 2 times when you came in... Wai you be so difficult, Key? :[ but that's alright, cause the noona totally pwns. XD haha. trufax! She dances to that Titanic song XD which is like...filled with WHOAAAaa~!'s and such xD And then it was quite amazing when she danced to SHINee's "Noona is so pretty" and ended in an aegyo!pose! They were all checking her out, I swear. Don't you wish you were her? xD I heard one of the boy's go "WHOAWHoawhoa--!" HAHA. SO EXAGGERATED. After that, they all get together to do some moves. [There's a lot of focus on Minho for some reason... it totally means that he's the one to be chosen XD AND I LIKE IT TOO MUCH. LOL.] So they all grab one item each, jonghyun immediately calls a ball, and taemin just grabs one, but then onew goes for the last ball and minho ends up taking it XDXDXD so onew is left with a hula hoop, as well as key. haha. so noona teaches onew and key how to use the hula hoop... where Onew is ULTIMATE!FAIL XDXD Even the narrator sings "Whatever he does, it's Onew Condition~" XDDDD OMAN. So they do this thing where a person rolls the hoop and has to jump through it, and noona demonstrates... poorly. Jonghyun asks "Noona, does this move really exist?" XD We all wonder. This is like, the ONLY THING THAT ONEW DOESN'T FAIL AT in this episode. but he's like "it hurts" XD and he does it OVER AND OVER AGAIN probably cause it's the only thing that he seemed to succeed at. sorry onew bb. but at least we get some OnHyun interaction out of it. XD That ends and TM, JH and MH get up and learn how to do tricks with their balls... hmm... yeah. fangirls, control yourselves. First, they roll balls down their backs. Minho is the only one really concentrating on getting it right. Then, while they practice throwing the ball and jumping and stuff, key and onew fenced with their hoops and totally didn't do what they were supposed to be doing and didn't pay attn to noona. Okay, seriously, that was a bit rude to her, but it's something that boys do and I'm really wowed by noona's understanding XD haha. Noona pointed out that Minho was working hard practicing alone (a bit of foreshadowing by the editors of the show XD as if it wasn't getting blatantly clear). She gives the ball boys a rolling ball test thing and JH hurts himself XD Key is like If anyone knows a hospital we can take him to, please post a msg on the YunHaNam board. haha, wrong ppl to ask. lol. (So it's like, oh hey, shinee gaiz, there's a hospital here. and jh can go, thx, but it's been a week, i'm good. XD) So then, noona is like, okay, you guys learned everything...... whut now? XD SHINee goes "Use what we learned!" and "Evaluation!" So noona gives them 20 minutes to make up an evaluation performance. and KEY sidles up next to her, and JH is like "We can do well without Key!" cause they think he's ditching them and he turns back around like.. HAHAHAHA, THAT'S FUNNY. NO WAI GAIZ. and of course, comes back. LOL. @ around 6:07 you can see Key doing some really gaudy looking moves. XD pretty flamboyant. I'm feeling a "happy" vibe. Like, as in, suju happy. HAHA. So they make up some moves and test out some moves... There's this one thing they do where you hafta jump over a rolling hoop. Onew jumps. and fails, obvs. Then Key does it and succeeds, making Onew's failure that much more sad :/But it all works out and they're performing to Sansogatteun Neo. Key didn't work too hard during practice and was the only one to go off and do his own thing (with the ribbon). The performance time comes... and it's quite good~ish XD definitely not up to their TRUE stage presence, but XD haha.. the end... Onew jumps through the hoop again and lays dead as everyone throws their item at him. Onew, RETURN! Then the music cuts abrubptly and JH is like... it's done. wth? XD very anti-climatic. Minho was actually the only one, I felt, that truly tried his hardest. The epi so far hasn't put Key or Onew in a good light. Though Onew did try a lot. I feel really sad :[

I LIKE THIS NOONA CAUSE SHE'S QUIET. and really graceful XD

MALAYSIAKINI - Tindakan Badan Bertindak Hak-hak Hindu (Hindraf) menyerbu rumah terbuka Aidilfitri Pe

Sony have taken the wraps off of the long-awaited PSP-3000, the latest update to their popular handheld games console. Although the name might make it sound like a significant update, the key areas really boil down to a new or at-least altered screen, a built-in microphone and the inclusion of a ‘PS’ button.

It's not like Sony could really keep this thing under wraps for much longer, but the company finally did the deed by announcing the PSP-3000 at the Leipzig Games Convention. The unit itself will look exactly like the PSP-2000, though it will feature an "improved screen that's better outside with no glare and a built-in mic." The juicy tidbits have yet to surface, but we are told to expect the new handheld in Europe for €199 ($291) on October 15th.

Remember after the Political Tsunami in March this year, after suffering heavy heavy losses, partners in the ruling coalition attempted to do some soul searching to see where they went wrong.....and guess what? Till today, they are still searching for the answer.....that must be some real lousy politicial and PR strategists they have in their stables, huh?

UMNO blamed it on political bloggers and freedom of speech. Action taken? ISA whichever bugger deemed irritating;

MCA said it was not their fault. Action taken? Continue with their "No Action, Talk Only" policy, while kissing the feet of the keris-wielding Lords;

And MIC?

They decided to blame it on their "out-dated image" and unleased a very expensive Re-Branding Exercise earlier this year, with new taglines, membership discount cards, new logo, new uniforms, new hair-pieces (?).........

A call centre will be established to entertain problems, and a new portal to replace the party’s current website will also be launched.

An MIC discount card will also be given to members for use at selected outlets.

“We are expecting total penetration of this image change within a two-year period.

“A detailed action plan will also be communicated to all grassroots leaders via some 140 meetings to be held in all branches from district to district,” he said, adding that the complete exercise would cost some RM500,000.

I must say, MIC is definitely working their asses off to ensure the success of this "Image Overhaul" Project...........

Check out what they've been up to lately :

K.Basil, MIC Division Head of Bukit Katil, Malacca and fellow MiCkey Mouse stamping their seal of approval on the Ali Rustam's proposal for tapioca plates. (Another more apt term to describe this would be "to kiss ass" :P)

SHAH ALAM: About 100 MIC members demonstrated here to protest the demolition of a Hindu temple by the Ampang Jaya Municipal council recently. (Wonder where they were hiding all these while before PR took over......)

Temple demolition case again in Selangor.
It looks like only in Selangor hindu temples being demolis

Temple demolition case again in Selangor.

It looks like only in Selangor hindu temples being demolished, no news of temples being demolished in other states. Ironically, this issue had been played to the most benefit by PR peoples before general election. And it's fair to say that one of the main reason BN government was brought down is due to the successful PR campaign against the devilish and irresponsible previous government led by Khir Toyo.

I was in Malaysia and had a chance to meet the then Selangor MB. Samy Vellu was outraged that temples being knocked down by the local authorities furthermore with Deepavali was just around the corner. Pak Lah called Samy and Khir immediately to discuss on this matter.

Khir's explanation when asked in that small meeting which I happened to attend was, the temple is built on private property, any structure built without permission by the landowner is an 'illegal structure' regardless whether the structure is a mosque, temple, shrine or even a palace. Pretty straight forward answer from him. Well few months after that, he was booted out of his office. Hindraf was on fire (read: angry)...

Promises were made by PR's peeps that Hindu temples will be respected and protected and Indians will be given extra attention in order to bring Indians out of poverty line.

Today, few months after the infamous 85% Indian vote swings from BN to PR, which undoubtedly gave Selangor to PR to govern, another Hindu temple is destroyed. Should we call them liar now? Or was Khir telling the truth about too many temples built illegally? Who is telling the truth, and who is capitalizing the most by creating racial tension aimed directly towards previous Selangor state government?

I just couldn't help but to notice this inconsistencies. Let's have a look at statements made by PR leaders with regards to this issue. Note that some carried the same tone as previous BN government, and some just don't know what they are talking about (read: clueless).

YB Zuraidah Kamarudin

When contacted by Bernama, Ampang Member of Parliament Zuraidah Kamarudin said the temple was not supposed to have been demolished and that there were certain procedures which had to be followed, prior to the demolition.

She said the council had demolished the temple without the state government's consent. (aren't those councilors appointed by PR government?)

"The Pakatan Rakyat government is very particular about religious issues, including mosques or temples," she added. (rhetoric?)

YB Ronnie Liu

"State Local Government, Study and Research Committee chairman Ronnie Liu said the state government had issued an order asking all local councils to halt such actions against all places of worship." (First, is there no one in your office to read the letter for you? And alert you immediately. Or are you bringing the whole office staffs for a holiday in China. Secondly, your reply is similar to BN's reaction before GE-12)

YB Dr. A Xavier Jayakumar

"Initial investigations by the Selangor government have revealed that the "temple" demolished by the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council was actually a small shrine built on forest reserve land.

State executive councillor Dr A. Xavier Jayakumar said it was misleading to call the structure a "temple". (shrine or temple, musalla or mosque)

HINDRAF replied.. We challenge Dr Jayakumar and his Pakatan Government to produce the necessary provisions of the state Law that stipulated the necessity of the so-called “format”. To add insult to injury he had the audacity to say this is not a Temple but a shrine. Is he trying to indicate that it was okay to demolish a shrine? How less is a shrine than a temple?? The problem with these politicians is they do not give a damn about the feelings of Hindus and the need to provide and gazette places of worships belonging to Hindus.

YB Manickavasagam

Member of Parliament Kapar says he is resigning as Deputy Liasion Chairman Parti Keadilan Rakyat Negeri Selangor with immediate effect. (Why so hurry to step down? Plus it's not the party post that you have to give up, it should be your parliamentary seat, that will serve a blow to the current PR government. They made promises they failed to deliver)

S. Manikavasagam is expected to submit his resignation letter to Parti Keadilan Rakyat , Selangor Chief on Monday 29 Oct 2008.

It shows He is serious and committed in upholding the rights of all Human Being. When conveying this message at Kulai last night he says “I’m not like other leaders holding on position despite knowing Rakyat’s rejection” (Well maybe you are a man of your words. You have your own principles and you stand by them)

Manikavasagam disagrees, saying "not registered" is unacceptable as that was the excuse given by the BN government to demolish scores of temples in the state and across the country. (in response to Dr. Xavier's remark)

YB Zuraidah Kamarudin.. again..

“The truth is: the temple was demolished by its own committee to make way for renovation and a facelift. They did this on their own accord and did not consult nor seek approval from the state government."(note the inconsistencies, first she said council took action against state government directive)

HINDRAF

HINDRAF is taken aback with the statement that the MPAJ had ordered the demolition of the Temple without knowledge or directive of the state Government. If the statement of Dr.Xavier is true he should take the most responsible step by lodging police report and insist the police initiate criminal proceedings against MPAJ for their

The statement by Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin justifying the demolition of the temple on grounds of misunderstanding between MPAJ and temple management on renovation works and documentation is another mockery. Is it consistent with good Governance to demolish a place of worship should there be a “misunderstanding”. Would anyone in MPAJ dare demolish a mosque?

Whatever the reasons are, this PR government will taste the bitter medicine. They once were in the attacking position while being opposition. Now they will understand how hard it is to be running the government. They will know now it's impossible to satisfy all, and what they can do know is damage control. BN government failed to take adequate damage control actions maybe due to continuous attacks by the then oppositions including Hindraf's threat.

This issue of Hindu temples must be taken seriously. There are more than 500 temples in Selangor, and safe enough to say 30 percent of them are built on private properties. There will be another temple demolished, I am sure of that. The matter is to address the possible controversies before it will be blown out of control by the current opposition. Fair enough to say that you can't blame them since that's just what you did when they knocked down temples. Did you give them chance to explain and rectify the problem? I don't think so. So don't expect them to be nice to you.

Release HINDRAF 5 now? so that they can teach Selangor PR state a lesson?

There is a candlelight vigil on Saturday (27 Sept) at Dataran Merdeka for the Hindraf Five.
Everyone

There is a candlelight vigil on Saturday (27 Sept) at Dataran Merdeka for the Hindraf Five.

Everyone is welcome.

A past

In my school grounds - I remember vividly - how a nine year old me struggled with the polarised environment in school. It was a fixation with me, to stay away from something purely Indian.

It was not to deny my Dravidian roots, but it was to make sure that people did not see me as an Indian only.

I come from a purely Tamil family. My parents are, and so are all their relatives. There was one second cousin of my mom who married in Sarawak, but we never see them. By large everything was Tamil.

The movies, the culture, the values system and the gaslight in my grandparents home in Kampung Pandan.

To a much simpler child - as I was - it was more important to seem multicultural and to look at things in absolutes.

When my time came for university - I was not sure university, at least the way it is here in Malaysia, was ready for me.

In the first month, the Indian students had a broad consensus that I felt I was too good for them. By end of my first year, it was gospel truth. By the start of my second year, I got on with people more - everyone really - and they started to understand I was not anti-anyone. I just was not pro-some.

Minorities subtext

That brings me to think diversity in Malaysia. The often unseparated concepts of political rights and political representation.

The former when considered in the ethnic minority consideration, was about winning it. To get what others have. Not more, just as much.

Minorities are not measured by the numbers.

Women in America whilst many yet disenfranchised were and are still a minority. Blacks, juveniles, single mothers.

But they are minorities in some context, and not so in others.

A black man was a severely under-represented in the former slave states in the US, however he was not as under-represented in his community when it came to women - who were disenfranchised further by the prevailing parochial think.

So minorities and disenfranchisement are dynamic constructs.

Any group of people - even before you set eyes on them - have a multitude of minorities, however the emphasis only grows or exists when particular losses or lack of opportunities are shared by any part sub-group.

All the slaves in America would be from various tribes and stretches of the African west coast. In Africa, there are various and diverse races of people. Not all Africans are from the same race, let alone same tribe. There would have been distinctions, however their commonality of being Africans and slaves eroded those other differences.

Yet now, with almost 150 years after slavery lapsed, the non-emphasis of absolute discrimination - blacks like many minorities experience levels of oppression - gave increase to other subgroup emphasis. Like music ( West coast and East Coast music), education and income groups.

Mega-rich black personalities can access everything any white contemporary may or want to. There are no scenes of a desolate and upset Muhammad Ali chucking his gold medal into the river in Kentucky because fame and money does not get you to dine in restaurant in the 1960s south.

So the debate always shifts when distortions in the initial group manifest.

Political rights versus Political representation

So when political rights are undermined, the aggrieved minority group pursues remedy, together.

The Malayan Union protest was a minority group perceiving the competition of rights by an indeterminate group. Right or wrong. Same goes with MIC and MCA trying to procure citizenship for a large group of British sponsored individuals a political stake in the forming country.

Those are fights for rights. However what do you do when just rights are yours? Where does right fringe and then coalesce with power?

Rights are about equal minimums, not domination. They are making sure you are not losing out because you belong to a minority group, not that you get more than others as a right.

A slave seeks to be free, not to be a slaver-owner.

The country is governed by a group of parties built on pursuing political rights for their constituents. But you can only go that far with that notion. It has a finishing line.
The continuing role of politicians is political representation. That is not dictated by a political rights agenda.

Political parties in Malaysia are now asked by its population general to represent them. Political remedies are not rights issues. Getting a bus to service a low density area, making sure there are no high-voltage aerial cables and improving school conditions are policy issues - not necessarily in the domain of a rights debate.

However since the ruling parties are imbued in a rights debate perpetually, the rights elements will somehow emerge.

The bus is serving other areas because there are Malays there, and the buses in this area are run by Chinese. Same goes for cables, and schools are a hot-bed of rights issues, and rarely education issues.

So while the rest of the progressive world is trying to get their children to read, write and count better, we are mired in making sure they are reading, writing and counting in a language tied to political rights, and compromise the quality bit.

The whole, we are ok if the child can count only to 10 as long as he counts in __________.

The hindraf vigil

Circumnavigating back to the opening bit, the vigil is about rights - which is fine. But once accrued, the discussion must move to political representation, and that is a policy debate.

That is why all the civil rights protestors did not form a political party. The correcting of rights was the issue of a lobby, the issue of representation was for the examination and debate of a political party.

So being a member of the Southern Baptist Conference or the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People did not preclude you from being a member of the Democratic Party.

You can speak as a black man for black issues inside the Democratic Party, however the political issues related to representation stretch beyond just to race only.

As so is the women’s caucus in the major parties in America.

So speaking for Indian issues is not an impediment for me, but for people to think that those are the only issues I can speak on, or that they as non-Indian cannot speak about them is flawed.

That would also explain why I defended the rights of Muslims in my country drinking in bars, when someone told me it was a Muslim issue. I said no. They are Muslims but they are also citizens. And their interests are mine to protect too.

No one has the right to think issues are the exclusive domains of those who claim them by a demographic connection.

The fight for a right is always dynamic, and political representation provides the umbrella for those rights.

Know what's the similarity between slasher movie villians (Hollywood Boleh!!!) and that of our local politicians (Malaysia Boleh!!!)?

THEY REFUSE TO DIE!!! Despite being riddled with never ending streams bullets, thrown off the building, set on fire, etc.......these persistant mutants from hell never fail to return and haunt their victims........

Hollywood's Boleh!!! - Mike Myers, Freddy Kruger, Jason......comes back everytime to SLASH screaming good looking teens

Malaysia Boleh!!! - Mohd. Taib, Thamby Chik, Osu Sukam.....comes back into the political arena after a brief hiatus hiding from scandals to STASH more screaming taxpayers' money into one's coffers?

The latest addition to our Malaysia Boleh would be this joker (with bad hair piece btw)........

The Star, Monday September 22, 2008

MIC: Free Hindraf five

PETALING JAYA: The MIC has reiterated its call for the Government to free five Hindraf leaders from Internal Security Act (ISA) detention.

Party president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said that he would raise the matter with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi again, despite having done so many times.

Samy Vellu also said the Government should not detain the leaders any longer as this would only prolong the Indian community’s ill-feelings towards the Government.

“It is about time they were released as they pose no danger to the security of the country,” he said in a statement.

Erm, this joker is still around?

Obviously, somebody realised the recent release of Kickthefella, Teresa Kok and Tan Hoon Cheng presented an excellent opportunity to try and crawl back into the voters' good graces........Not working Uncle Samy....not working....

Then again, you can't blame ol' Uncle Samy for trying........this pompous fool still thinks the public is as easily fooled as in the old days..........

The Star, Monday September 22, 2008

Indian folk back to seek help, says Samy

IPOH: Many Indian voters in the country who abandoned the MIC during the March 8 general election are now turning back to the party, claims party president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu.

He said “hundreds of people” had started thronging the party’s offices everyday, knowing that only the MIC could help them.

“In the last elections, about 50% of the Indian community rejected the MIC and supported the Opposition.

“But many want to return now,” he told reporters at a hotel here yesterday after opening a workshop on re-branding the party.

The Indian community, Samy Vellu said, has realised that it needed to have a close relationship with the Federal Government through the MIC in order to improve its livelihood.

“They admit to having been confused and in disarray, that they were influenced into voting for the Opposition but I tell them that it does not matter.

“When asked why they had come back looking for us, their answer was that the MIC has an administration, offices and an experienced leadership, and has continued looking after the people despite having lost in the elections. (Any news about the Maika Shares btw, Mr Vellu?)

“This is the reason why they are still interested in forging a relationship with the MIC,” he said.

Samy Vellu said response to the re-branding workshops nationwide was also encouraging, and urged grassroots leaders to discard their old mindset and “go back to thinking the people are our bosses”.

He admitted that the MIC had erred in not using the Internet and electronic media to reach out to the Indian community during the elections.

He also announced that the party would launch its own Internet portal in October.

And, seriously, can someone please, once and for all, tell these clueless jokers that they lost their 2/3 majority NOT because they didn't set up their party website!!!

Sheesshh!!!

First the good news - RPK's hearing has been moved from 26 Sept to 23 Sept.... which means we have a slightest of chance to see RPK released earlier.... slight but neverhteless, a chance.... BURN MORE CANDLES TONITE!!!

delCapo is a darkconscience.... cynical & suspicious....

Is it just me or has ISA become a bloody bandwagon in recent days??? No??

Yes, the true supporters & NGOs have been actively holding candles vigils, lobbying, blogging for the obolishment of ISA & the release of RPK & others....

Kudos to the Bar Council for making an stand "At its extraordinary general meeting (EGM) attended by 739 members" to demand for unconditional release of all ISA detainees and "repeal the ISA and the Emergency Ordinance 1969 and Dangerous Drugs Act 1985"

700+ lawyers in agreement is already an achivement in itself... hehehehe...

All the above are ok so far..... BUT.. check these out (Star articles)

MCA to press for ISA review, Politicians insist on ISA repeal, MIC: Free Hindraf five, BN Youth leaders to seek release of Hindraf five

All these in one day..... why the sudden orchestra from MIC, MCA & Gerakan??..... Why now??... do u know how fucken long these poor buggers have been in there???

read more into the articles & you will realise they headlines is nice but they still dun fucken get it!!....

MCA is doing it to "to change the people’s misconception of its leaders."

Samy is the most direct =] ... he wants teh hindraf 5 2 be released because their detention "prolong the Indian community’s ill-feelings towards the Government."

Only Gerakan made some sense "Gerakan was of the view that the ISA should be replaced with a new Act limited to preventing terrorism."

Hello! if u guys wanna use something to gain political mileage dun make it so fucken obvious lah.... we are NOT STUPID!!!

If you really wanna do something, besides whacking the Botak & government for change, maybe you can visit those detainees' family & offer help for a start!!

lETS SEE SOME RESULTS, LETS SEE THE GOVERMENT ACTUALLY CHANGING THEIR STAND ON ISA.... if u cannot influence them one fucken bit... then just shut the fuck up!

DON"T JUST TALK COCK!!!!

DON'T JUMP IN WITH YOUR POLITICAL BULLSHIT & TAINT THE REAL EFFORTS OF THE REAL PEOPLE!!!

FUCK OFF!
