To gain safety and luck, Chinese people especially during

the new year will speak of good words and 

get red envelope from the adult. 

Fish is every family must eat on new year's eve,

it symbolizes the coming new year will be better.

This is the sea bass with salt and pepper,

steamed for 10 minutes, and then put on

some lemon slices, chili, green onion,

coriander, pepper, with few garlic thin slices.

Seasoned and mix with red snapper,

this is the fish I made often.
Put into boiling water for several minutes, seasoned and mixed with lime leaves, lime juice,

salt, pepper, chili.Salmon with onion and capperi is my most frequent favorite dish.

Year ends with ample surplus is just a saying,

a good saying with a fish can bring people the power.

In the same time with this Chinese New Year,

I also through the fish pronunciation to wish all

the bloggers a very ample surplus year,

good health with good fortune,

and wish all the Chinese friends

a very happy Chinese Lantern Festival,

which is a Chinese traditional festival.

It celebrates on the fifteenth day of the first month

according to Chinese lunar calendar, after this day,

previous year is over, new prospects are coming.

7 and 8 Feb was a public holiday and we were out busy visiting and reuniting with friends and relatives that we have not seen for a while. It was a busy time for everyone! Springcleaning, shopping for new year goodies, packing red packets... etc (Distributing red packets or "ANG POW" by the married to the younger children and the unmarried is a Chinese custom to show that one has reach independence and to give good wishes to the younger) It was a good time to gather and reunite with friends and family ! May spring be a good start for everyone and wish everyone a Happy New Year ahead! GONG XI FA CAI!!

Haiah, emang aku mirip banget yah ma orang keturunan Tionghoa? Emang sih kata anak-anak(anak-anak? Ade gila aja kali y,,) muka saya kayak artis JAV (haiyah?!)

Sering banget ane dikira keturunan Tionghoa, sampe-sampe kalo aku bilang gag punya duid pada g percaya orang2. padahal beneran bokek, duid cuma seribu-seribunya di kantong.

Tapi emang dari dulu suka baca komik jepang sampe komik hongkong macam tapak sakti,, emang kelakuan bisa berefek kepada wajah??

i had a chance to explore chinatown before chinese new year,
and i absolutely love it!
i wasn't kidding when i said that it was my first time exploring chinatown!
and no,
working is not a part of the package of exploring chinatown.
though i do have cases there once in a while.

chinatown looks absolutely gorgeous at night.

i can't believed i spent almost half a day there.
the night scenery was magnificent.
the lights,
the music,
the decoration.
simply gorgeous.

can't wait to pay my friends a visit to their houses,
for chinese new year!

Chinese New Year is the biggest celebration in Singapore. If you love to experience local culture, visit Singapore during Chinese New Year. There are lots of celebrations throughout the island with bargains at shopping centers and promotions elsewhere. Stay until the lantern festival which falls on the 15 day of the new year.

My highlight of Chinese New Year in Singapore was the reunion dinner. I didn't need to be Chinese to enjoy the dinner with friends and, sometimes, colleagues. Reunion dinners are offered at almost all restaurants, hotels, clubs. Buying oranges and visiting friends were fun. When visiting a Chinese home or business, taking oranges, just two, is considered good luck. I miss wearing chong sum, Chinese long dress, if only for an evening.

It's Chinese cuisine for dinner tonight.

Nowadays, due to current standards of political correctness, Fa Cai now is taken to denote prosper in wellbeing, health, etc.

Used to be sounds of them festively noisy chinese gongs, drums and earth shattering firecrackers from the 1st to 15th day of the Chinese New Year.
My mom told me, how in her teenage days, Chinese New Year meant watching the local sifu doing his kungfu stuff with the dragon's head - prancing on the ground and taking high leap up the roof to the accompaniment of the robust 'dong, dong, dong, chiang!' rhythm from the dragon dance troop.

Huh... my mom's exciting experience I would never be able to feel (!)

Recently, on a trip to Melaka, I heard a damn good singer doing his stuff in Jonker Walk. Chang Xue Chung, I think his name is.

Here, play this for your mom and pop and bring them back to their glorious youth era again.

Hope everybody's homecoming reunion trip is working out, especially our homeland brothers and sisters.

chinese new year, of course means the celebration of the new year for the chinese. though it is the most festive time of the first quarter of the year (does that make sense to you?).

i am malay-chinese. so this is also one of the times i can actually calm down on. i can visit Po Po Mama and Grandma Yin and Grandfather Kang, my Chinese-oriented great grandparents. (; they live in the lush of Langkawi, but they also have a house in Alor Setar, which is kinda funny because they're really Polish-Chinese from China. that's why i'm a 'lil different from everybody else that's malay-chinese.

this is like a center point where all of us relatives meet, as there are people coming from India, China, Australia, US, NZ, and even Sweden! so, for me and all of my cousins (even the ones that are three times removed!) enjoy the chinese new year.

so, gong xi fa cai everybody!
