<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Pelanggan XL pasti tahu <a href="http://www.xl.co.id/rbt/">XL RBT</a> (ring back tone). Masalahnya adalah tidak semua pelanggan XL tahu cara menonaktifkan fitur ini. Maklum, langganan RBT ini akan menyedot pulsa kita secara otomatis setiap bulan. Kita memang bisa mengganti-ganti lagunya dan petunjuknya pun gamblang ada di website-nya beserta pilihan lagu-lagunya. Tapi ironis karena tidak ada petunjuk untuk mematikannya. Benar-benar menyebalkan!</p>

<p>Karena tidak mendapatkan petunjuk di website dan juga di "1818 help", akhirnya saya bertanya pada <a href="http://google.co.id">Mbah Google</a>. Dan saya menemukan cara menonaktifkan di <a href="http://reza.yazdi.or.id/berhenti-berlangganan-rbt-nada-tunggu-nada-sambung-xl/">"Berhenti Berlangganan Ring Back Tone (RBT) - Nada Tunggu - Nada Sambung XL"</a>. Terima kasih untuk Pak Reza yang telah menunjukkan cara mematikan XL RBT di blognya.</p>
<p>Sebenarnya petunjuk untuk mematikan fasilitas yang menyedot pulsa secara otomatis ini harus dengan jelas diberikan kepada pelanggannya, baik melalui sms notifikasi (saat perpanjang otomatis) mau pun di website. Dalam kasus XL RBT, petunjuk mematikannya ada di link yang sulit diperoleh. Sangat jauh dari semua petunjuk untuk mengaktifkan dan mengganti RBT-nya. Saya sendiri tidak menemukan informasi ini sampai membaca petunjuk di salah satu komentar di blog Pak Reza.</p>
<p>Sayang bahwa XL sebagai salah satu operator selular terbesar (masuk 3 besar) di negeri ini justru tidak menyertakan petunjuk ini dengan jelas dan mudah diperoleh. Atau memang sengaja menyembunyikan informasi ini? yang jelas ini menyalahi aturan dan XL bisa saja dikategorikan sebagai CP (content provider) nakal.</p>

<p><strong>Challenge</strong><br />
Introduce <em>Kids Connection</em> -- an educational curriculum designed specifically for the small-sized congregation.     <!--more--><strong>Background.</strong> Although small-sized congregations are numerous, they individually have fewer resources, so although market is potentially significant, the campaign had to be smart about methods and media.  Marketing decision had been to contact key denominational and religious educational stakeholders as well.<strong><br />
</strong><strong></strong></p>
<p><strong>Approach: </strong>To focus content, interviewed denominational executives and potential users of curriculum.  Isolated three audiences.  With audience identified, developed customized sales letters and press releases for each segment. Supported the outreach with  standard resource material (long-form and short-form brochures) to introduce  the program, as well as generating content for web catalog and for e-mail advertising.<strong><br />
</strong></p>
<p><strong>Outcome:<br />
</strong> Successful pitch letters and press releases to religious education publications caught editorial attention and resulted in first time coverage for the publisher.  Curriculum went on to become of the strongest introductions  for the past 10 years.   <strong> </strong></p>

</strong>Product included brochures, news releases, search result copy, e-communication, web content, articles for publication, and sales letters.</p>

<p><img src="http://flexiskul.com/sms/img/login.png" align="right" />Hari Minggu (14/09/2008) kemarin saya mendapat kesempatan menjadi narasumber bagi acara e-LifeStyle di <a href="http://www.metrotvnews.com/">MetroTV</a> dengan topik <a href="http://dewo.wordpress.com/2008/09/14/e-lifestyle-sms-pemantau-murid/">"SMS Pemantau Murid."</a> Sebenarnya topik "SMS Pemantau Murid" tersebut mendapat respon yang sangat baik dari masyarakat. Terbukti dari banyaknya telpon yang masuk ke studio. Hanya saja waktu yang dicadangkan untuk acara ini boleh dibilang sangat kurang, yaitu cuma 30 menit sehingga tidak bisa menampung semua pertanyaan yang masuk. Kalau tidak salah saat itu hanya 3 atau 4 telpon yang dapat dijawab.</p>
<p>Oleh karena itu, perkenankanlah saya mencoba menuliskan apa-apa saja yang ada di balik teknologi "SMS Pemantau Murid" tersebut.</p>
<p>Kalau boleh diperluas, arti "pemantauan" dari <a href="http://flexiskul.com">sistem FlexiSkul&#8482;</a> (sistem yang menjadi latar belakang topik tersebut) lebih luas artinya dari pada sekedar mengetahui keberadaan atau pun info status dari murid/siswa. Sistem ini juga dapat digunakan sebagai pemantau prestasi akademis dan non-akademis dari siswa. Selain itu sistem ini juga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai penyalur informasi atau berita secara langsung kepada orang tua. Informasi/berita mengenai siswa secara langsung diterima di hadapan orang tua, yaitu di ponselnya.</p>
<p>FlexiSkul memiliki fasilitas pengiriman sms yang lebih baik dari pada sistem sejenis, yaitu karena FlexiSkul dapat mengirim sms ke multi-penerima sekaligus. Satu akun siswa dapat memiliki 1 sampai 3 nomer ponsel penerima sms. Penerimanya bisa saja nomer dari ponsel ayah, ibu atau bahkan juga ke siswa itu sendiri. Dengan demikian arus informasi dapat diterima sekeluarga sekaligus. Sangat efektif.</p>
<p><!--more-->Sistem ini dibekali dengan antarmuka yang mudah digunakan sehingga pengiriman ke banyak akun siswa dapat dilakukan dengan cepat. Terhitung modul yang disediakan oleh FlexiSkul saat ini ada 4 modul, yaitu:<br />
1. Modul SMS Absensi<br />
2. Modul SMS Nilai<br />
3. Modul Broadcast SMS<br />
4. Modul Info/Berita Individual</p>
<p>Untuk dapat menggunakan layanan ini, sekolah tidak perlu melakukan investasi server mau pun aplikasi SMS <em>gateway</em> sendiri karena semuanya sudah disediakan oleh FlexiSkul&#8482;. Yang perlu dilakukan hanyalah registrasi dan submit data akun siswa (penerima dapat mencapai 3 nomer ponsel per siswa). Selanjutnya sekolah dapat mengakses semua fasilitas itu via komputer yang tersambung ke server FlexiSkul via internet.</p>
<h3>Arah Pengembangan</h3>
<p>Saat ini sistem FlexiSkul memang masih bersifat pasif alias satu arah. Aliran informasi masih sebatas dari sekolah ke orang tua. Tetapi menurut rencana pengembangan, FlexiSkul sudah direncanakan untuk dapat berinteraksi dengan orang tua. FlexiSkul lebih lanjut direncanakan dapat melakukan <em>inquiry</em> nilai siswa secara <em>realtime</em>. Tetapi untuk mewujudkannya harus ada integrasi antara sistem FlexiSkul dengan sistem informasi sekolah sehingga semuanya dapat dilakukan secara otomatis, bahkan tanpa campur tangan operator.</p>
<p>Sedangkan fitur lain yang juga sedang dikembangkan adalah adanya sistem inquiry status siswa secara realtime. Maksudnya adalah orang tua dapat melihat status anaknya saat itu juga. Sedang apakah dia? Apakah sedang berolah raga, extrakurikuler atau sedang belajar? Kalau sedang belajar, mata pelajaran apa yang sedang diikutinya?</p>
<p>Tidak cukup dengan itu, FlexiSkul juga direncanakan dapat menjadi ajang konsultasi, baik dari siswa kepada BP, mau pun antara orang tua kepada <em>incharge</em> di sekolah.</p>
<p>Sebenarnya sejauh ini FlexiSkul sudah dapat diotomasikan, terutama untuk fitur absensinya, yaitu jika FlexiSkul diintegrasikan dengan mesin absensi. Mesin absensinya dapat dipilih oleh sekolah, misalnya dengan FingerScan, Magnetic Card, Bar Code, atau dengan <em>device</em> pengenal lainnya. Prinsip kerjanya sederhana, yaitu jika dalam batas waktu tertentu siswa tidak melakukan presensi, maka siswa dianggap absen. Tapi jika dalam batas waktu terakhir ternyata datang, maka statusnya diset terlambat.</p>
<p>Dan secara otomatis FlexiSkul akan mengirimkan berita status absensi atau keterlambatan ini ke orang tua. Selanjutnya orang tua dapat memantau putera-puterinya dengan mekanisme inquiry status siswa.</p>
<h3>Hambatan Yang Dihadapi</h3>
<p>Tidak dapat dipungkiri bahwa dunia komunikasi di Indonesia sedang carut-marut, mulai dari praktek-praktek kotor CP <em>(content provider)</em> penyedia layanan sms premium sampai ke hingar-bingar peperangan tarif selular. Semuanya memberikan imbas yang kurang baik bagi laju penetrasi layanan sms bagi dunia pendidikan. </p>
<p>Hal ini juga dialami oleh FlexiSkul. Curhat dari Mbak Desy paling tidak membuka kenyataan bahwa mengenalkan layanan FlexiSkul bukanlah perkara yang mudah. Tak jarang Mbak Desy bertemu dengan kerutan dahi dari para petinggi sekolah. Umumnya mereka sudah membentengi diri dengan kecurigaan bahwa layanan FlexiSkul adalah layanan sms premium alias layanan sms dengan biaya tinggi yang langsung didebet dari pulsa penerima.</p>
<p>Tetapi dengan sabar Mbak Desy menjelaskan bahwa FlexiSkul bukanlah sms premium. Mekanismenya bukan melalui sedot pulsa seperti sms premium, tapi dengan mekanisme quota. Tarifnya pun tidak mahal. Salah satu skema yang diterapkan kepada salah satu client-nya adalah dengan sistem iuran tahunan. Per siswa dikenakan biaya Rp 75.000 per tahun dengan batas maksimal 200 sms per siswa per tahun. Tentu angka ini jauh lebih murah dari pada tarif sms premium. Bahkan hanya sedikit di atas tarif sms normal.</p>
<p>Hambatan terbesar selanjutnya adalah masalah trafik sms itu sendiri. Seperti kita ketahui, perang tarif operator selular amat-sangat memperkeruh suasana. Trafik untuk telpon dan sms menjadi amat-sangat padat. Dengan pengiriman sms individual lewat ponsel saja bisa terlambat beberapa lama, yang bahkan ada juga yang dalam hitungan jam, apalagi jika pengiriman dilakukan dengan jumlah yang besar <em>(bulk)</em> seperti FlexiSkul?</p>
<p>Tidak dipungkiri bahwa pengiriman sms oleh FlexiSkul pernah mengalami keterlambatan sampai beberapa jam. Pengiriman yang dilakukan pagi hari baru diterima malam hari. Ini tentu sangat merugikan jika pesan yang dikirimkan termasuk pesan yang penting atau pun sensitif terhadap waktu. Tetapi belakangan setelah sistem di-<em>upgrade</em>, pengiriman sms dalam jumlah besar tidak terlalu banyak mengalami keterlambatan.</p>
<p>Bahkan ke depannya FlexiSkul akan mendukung teknologi multi-modem multi-operator. Pengiriman dapat dilakukan secara paralel sehingga dapat mempersingkat waktu pengiriman sms <em>bulk</em>.</p>
<h3>Pentingkah? Perlukah?</h3>
<p>Seringkali timbul pertanyaan strategis dari sekolah mengenai sistem FlexiSkul ini, yaitu:<em> "pentingkah mekanisme ini diadopsi oleh sekolah?"</em> atau <em>"perlukah sekolah menerapkan sistem ini?"</em> Jawabannya sungguh relatif. Tetapi saya yakin bahwa sekolah-sekolah yang sangat bertanggung jawab dan memperhatikan anak didiknya akan sepakat menyatakan bahwa sistem ini sangat penting dan sangat diperlukan oleh sekolah dalam mewujudkan rasa tanggung jawab kepada anak didiknya.</p>
<p>Sekolah wajib memberikan informasi status dan prestasi anak didiknya kepada orang tuanya. Baik secara berkala mau pun secara <em>real time</em>. Semuanya harus dilakukan dengan metode yang paling efektif dan efisien. Dan rasanya mekanisme yang diadopsi oleh FlexiSkul dapat membantu sekolah dalam mewujudkan tugas mulianya.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The latest issue of the Harvard Business Review has an article on <a href="http://harvardbusinessonline.hbsp.harvard.edu/b01/en/common/item_detail.jhtml?id=R0809D&#38;referral=2340">Pixar's work culture</a>.  If you're at all interested in the business of creativity, you should check it out.  It's written toward a general audience, and is not particularly academic (it's written with MBA types in mind), which makes it really readable.</p>
<p>Pixar does things differently than the rest of Hollywood, in that they have a stable of directors (Brad Bird being probably the most talented, IMHO) and work on projects entirely in house. On the surface, this isn't so different from other animation studios, but there's a key difference in that they develop all their ideas in-house (so don't bother trying to sell them the rights to your screenplay).</p>
<p>The overriding idea behind Pixar's form and function is to get good people, give them the power to get things done, build up a culture that pushes them to do their best and challenges every decision, have as little bureaucracy as possible, and focus on continuing education and ties to the academic world.  It's sort of like if Disney's Imagineers were able to work with outside civilization more, or if a business were run like a yeshiva.</p>
<p>Question:  What other industries do you think the Pixar model would work well in?  Should book publishing do this, or should it stay with the author-agent-editor-publisher-marketing people-bookseller model?</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Webmasters and content providers began optimizing sites for search engines in the mid-1990s, as the first search engines were cataloging the early Web. Initially, all a webmaster needed to do was submit a page, or URL, to the various engines which would send a spider to "crawl" that page, extract links to other pages from it, and return information found on the page to be indexed. The process involves a search engine spider downloading a page and storing it on the search engine's own server, where a second program, known as an indexer, extracts various information about the page, such as the words it contains and where these are located, as well as any weight for specific words and all links the page contains, which are then placed into a scheduler for crawling at a later date.</p>
<p><!--more-->Site owners started to recognize the value of having their sites highly ranked and visible in search engine results. They also recognised that the higher their site ranking the more people would click on the website. According to industry analyst Danny Sullivan, the earliest known use of the phrase search engine optimization was a spam message posted on Usenet on July 26, 1997.</p>
<p>Early versions of search algorithms relied on webmaster-provided information such as the keyword meta tag, or index files in engines like ALIWEB. Meta tags provided a guide to each page's content. But using meta data to index pages was found to be less than reliable because the webmaster's account of keywords in the meta tag were not truly relevant to the site's actual keywords. Inaccurate, incomplete, and inconsistent data in meta tags caused pages to rank for irrelevant searches. Web content providers also manipulated a number of attributes within the HTML source of a page in an attempt to rank well in search engines.</p>
<p>By relying so much on factors exclusively within a webmaster's control, early search engines suffered from abuse and ranking manipulation. To provide better results to their users, search engines had to adapt to ensure their results pages showed the most relevant search results, rather than unrelated pages stuffed with numerous keywords by unscrupulous webmasters. Since the success and popularity of a search engine is determined by its ability to produce the most relevant results to any given search allowing those results to be false would turn users to find other search sources. Search engines responded by developing more complex ranking algorithms, taking into account additional factors that were more difficult for webmasters to manipulate.</p>
<p>Graduate students at Stanford University, Larry Page and Sergey Brin developed "backrub", a search engine that relied on a mathematical algorithm to rate the prominence of web pages. The number calculated by the algorithm, PageRank, is a function of the quantity and strength of inbound links. PageRank estimates the likelihood that a given page will be reached by a web user who randomly surfs the web, and follows links from one page to another. In effect, this means that some links are stronger than others, as a higher PageRank page is more likely to be reached by the random surfer.</p>
<p>Page and Brin founded Google in 1998. Google attracted a loyal following among the growing number of Internet users, who liked its simple design. Off-page factors such as PageRank and hyperlink analysis were considered, as well as on-page factors, to enable Google to avoid the kind of manipulation seen in search engines that only considered on-page factors for their rankings. Although PageRank was more difficult to game, webmasters had already developed link building tools and schemes to influence the Inktomi search engine, and these methods proved similarly applicable to gaining PageRank. Many sites focused on exchanging, buying, and selling links, often on a massive scale. Some of these schemes, or link farms, involved the creation of thousands of sites for the sole purpose of link spamming. In recent years major search engines have begun to rely more heavily on off-web factors such as the age, sex, location, and search history of people conducting searches in order to further refine results.</p>

Districts represented were Hazelwood, Ritenour, Francis Howell, Normandy, and Parkway. During the day, participants learned about videoconferencing- everything from the equipment to programs to funding. We connected the class to three<strong> content providers</strong>- across town, across state, and across the country! Saint Louis University (<a href="http://pa.slu.edu/" target="_blank">AIMS</a>), The <a href="http://www.discoverycenter.org/distancelearning.php" target="_blank">Discovery Center</a> in Springfield, and the <a href="http://education.baseballhalloffame.org/" target="_blank">Baseball Hall of Fame</a> and Museum in Cooperstown, NY all provided v/c demos, sharing what they bring into classrooms. In addition to learning about different kinds of content offered, participants learned where to <a href="http://www.cilc.org" target="_blank">find programs</a> and the best ways to schedule them. </p>

<p>We told participants where to find <strong>free videoconferences</strong> (government agencies like Library of Congress and NASA). <strong>Multipoint</strong> versus <strong>point-to-point</strong> were covered, as was "<strong>upon request</strong>" and <strong>set times</strong>- common buzzwords. Participating teachers happened to be in <strong>New Links to New Learning</strong> districts, so we also shared what <a href="http://www2.csd.org/newlinks/membership.htm" target="_blank">membership means</a>. Of course, we gave them time ask questions, to click around the Moodle, to check various v/c content provider databases, and to skim all those v/c blogs out there!</p>

Biaya membeli atau men-download konten ini adalah Rp 2000,- / pengiriman konten (WAP push) setiap minggunya. <p><strong>they expand their marketing to include websites (going global) they often not only </strong><strong>spend huge amounts to set up graphics, "bells and whistles" to make their page "look"</strong></p>
<p><strong>appealing, find themselves not satisfied with the return on investment their site is </strong><strong>bringing in.</strong></p>
<p><strong>What to do?  Well let us look at what they already have</strong>.<strong>  They have a beautiful site. </strong><strong>They have targeted traffic comming to visit,  yet few of these visitors actually convert</strong></p>

<p>Sejak kurang lebih setahun yang lalu, saya dikirimi --tanpa pernah saya minta-- SMS Magic dari nomer 37890. Berulangkali saya coba hentikan dengan mengirimkan unreg, tapi tidak berhasil. Ketika ProXL selaku operator membuka jalur pengaduan 817, saya minta mereka menghentikan SMS gelap tersebut. Mereka menyanggupi.</p>
<p>Tapi, selang satu jam, SMS magic kembali saya terima, setidaknya sampai lima kali. Ini sebuah bukti kegagalan operator mengendalikan provider. Terakhir, petugas ProXL mengirimkan kepada saya nomor telepon customer service SMS Magic 37890 (atas nama PT Elasitas Multi Kreasi).</p>
<p>Sederhana sekali modus operandi cyber crime di negeri ini. Dirikan content provider, buka e-banking, jalin kerjasama dengan operator, minta data pelanggan, kirim SMS sampah, lalu hapus mekanisme pembatalan. Mereka tinggal menangguk rejeki selangit yang jumlahnya fantastis.</p>
<p>Sulit dipercaya proXL mau memfasilitasi cyber crime. Bagaimana mungkin content provider bisa masuk tanpa izin operator. ProXL 'menjual' data pelanggan tapi gagal melindungi kami. Mohon penjelasan, apakah selama ini kami membayar sesuai kewajiban, atau plus sms liar seperti ini?</p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0;"><em><span style="font-size:8pt;color:black;font-style:normal;font-family:Tahoma;" lang="SV">Dalam sambutannya Cahyana menyambut baik langkah yang diambil Telkomsel yang memfasilitasi sharing session ini, ia mengatakan, “Pelaku industri konten mengambil peran penting dalam arah pembangunan Indonesia menyongsong era industri berbasis ICT (Information and Communication Technology), dimana sektor telekomunikasi telah terbukti terus tumbuh secara signifikan mencapai 20% pertahunnya atau rata-rata 4 kali lipat pertumbuhan ekonomi suatu negara. Di Inggris yang pertumbuhan ekonominya 2,9 persen, sektor Telekomunikasinya juga 4 kali lipatnya sekitar 11 persen.”</span></em></p>

Ketika dikonfirmasi kepada Dirut Telkomsel yang duduk disebelahnya saat acara sharing session tersebut, Kiskenda pun tersebut mengiyakan.</span></em></p>

Bahkan lebih dari sekitar 15 juta pelanggan Telkomsel telah menikmati ragam layanan konten yang dihadirkan Telkomsel bersama mitra content providernya.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:12pt;margin:0;"><span style="font-size:8pt;font-family:Tahoma;" lang="SV">Telkomsel terus mengembangkan ragam konten terbaik yang bahkan beberapa diantaranya dipelopori dan hanya dimiliki oleh Telkomsel, seperti: Nada Sambung Pribadi (Agustus 2004), Mobile TV Portal (September 2006) M-Komik (Agustus 2007), dan Mobile Blogging MyPulau (November 2007). </span><span style="font-size:8pt;font-family:Tahoma;">Ragam inovasi konten tersebut semakin mengokohkan Telkomsel sebagai service leader sekaligus upaya Telkomsel dalam memandu perkembangan industri selular.</span></p>

Salah satunya dengan pengembangan m-komik yang ke depan kabarnya sedang dipersiapkan content pendidikan, yang tidak terbatas pada mata pelajaran formal seperti matematika, kimia, biologi, bahasa, dan lain-lain. Namun juga pendidikan informal dan kebutuhan sehari-hari seperti prakarya, bercocok tanam, resep masakan, dan sebagainya,” pinta Cahyana.</span></p>

Nantinya semua pelaku indsutri harus taat pada kaidah-kaidah teknologi termasuk aturan dan hukumnya, bahkan extra teritorial yurisdikasi yang merupakan kesepakan aturan hukum antar negara juga diatur didalamnya. RUU ini telah lama digodok dan bulan Maret atau April ini akan diplenokan DPR,” papar Cahyana.</span></p>
