We had another great Radio Show this week.  After discussing what happened during the preaching on college campuses from the past week, we spent the rest of the first hour of the show talking about Sandwich Boards, Banners and Signs.  There have been many people who are open air preachers who have rejected the use of such things.  They will cite such reasons as pushing people away, bad preachers use them and that they are not effective.  We address the objections to the use of these items and then we talk about our experiences with them as well as giving some tips on what to get if you are thinking about using sandwich boards, banners or signs.  If you are an open air preacher and would like to get a Banner for your ministry outreaches, go to www.CryToGod.com and request one through them.  If you are interested in getting a sanwich board for your ministry outreaches, we also have a contact for that.  If you are serious about getting one, just contact me at: Kerrigan@PinPointEvangelism.com and I can help you with that.  You can basically get a sign made at any local shop.

Something that we didn't mention on the show this week, but I meant to mention are Buttons, Stickers and T-Shirts.  These three things are three more ways to get the word out there when preaching or witnessing.  We have personally seen how effective these three things can be as well.  Take a look at Our Zazzle Store or create some for yourself.

The next thing we talked about was the Great Saint of the week.  John talked a little about William Booth, the founder of the Salvation Army.  We talked about his life, the time in which he lived, his family and his ministry.  This led us to talk about Homeless Ministry.  We talked about such issues as when to know when you are being conned by a homeless person, when you are enabling someone to stay homeless and when to actually help someone out.  We finished up by talking about the current state of the ministry that Booth founded, the Salvation Army.

Lastly, we talked about "Saint" Augustine's prayer to Mary the mother of Jesus.  John read if through a paragraph at a time and we discussed issues.  This prayer was BLASPHEMOUS and HERETICAL at the least.  I don't see how anyone Bible Believing Christian could call this man a "Saint".  He was ungodly at best.  From this prayer, we get a glimpse of the beginning of the doctrine of Mary being co-redeemer of the world.  The prayer would say such things as Mary being our only hope and that through her we are pardoned of our sins.  Utterly ridiculous!

Next week we will be tackling the issue of Conditional Security.  We will talk about Once Saved, Always Saved, Perseverance of the Saints and Losing Your Salvation.  These are very important issues for professing Christians to talk about.  Believing the wrong this about this issue could cost someone their soul!  We look forward to talking about this!  To listen to or download the October 5th show, click below:

What was most interesting however was one of the links I clicked on. It brought me to thinkexist.com site with one of his quotes “The engineer has been, and is, a maker of history” - there siting on the top of the page was a banner my creative group created. Now that's just plain creepy. I guess the world comes full-circle now doesn't it. I wonder what my great grandfather would of thought - seeing a banner I was responsible for sitting on top of his profound quote.

The first picture is from "Lady and the Tramp" and is one of my all time favorites.  In real life I don't recommend hanging our flags on spaghetti.  Even though we may be adults there is always a part of us that is pure kid.

The picture below shows "Rapunzel" with her hair down and also a vertical signal flag banner.  So that he wouldn't get lost finding her the signal flags could be seen from a great distance.

Lastly is a picture I composed from " The Littlest Mermaid"  The signal flags at the top of the picture spell  "Ariel & Eric".

I feel like I've been away from my Etsy shop for too long! So many other things clamoring for my attention and I'm finally breaking free from that unhealthy pattern. I don't know why when the going gets tough I let go of the things that keep me happy?

So I'm finally getting back into the pattern of creativity, at least again with my hands and not just with my words. Channeling what's in my mind emotionally into the physical world is a challenge for me, but I've just finished some new pieces for my jewelry shop, SadieAndLeo.etsy.com that I am extremely excited about and will be listing in the next few days.

I also gave my shop a little refurbish, sorely needed too. I love this banner and avatar artist, CoffeyHouse Collection by decafjnr. She makes some really beautiful shop banners and the one I had previously I loved so much I decided to go back to her and chose a new one. Here it is, isn't it wonderful:

It really fits the feel of my shop now, or at least the feel I had imagined in my head and now the two match. I'm excited for what I'm starting to put out there now, it energizes me and makes me feel good again, creatively.

There are  a hundred and one ways in which to do this.  However, since I am fairly new to all this I have decided to take one step at a time. I began by opening my shop on Etsy.  Here I can display my paintings and offer them for sale.  This is fine but how do you get people to 'find' your shop?  It's a bit like opening a bricks and mortar shop down a street; you have to advertise your shop to encourage shoppers to come and browse and then be enticed to purchase!

Apart from many Etsy forum entries under all manner of subjects under the name of On A Whimsey I have taken part in events such as the Etsy Challenge.  By asking/pleading for votes from many different areas such as blogs, forums, myspace, facebook, my own blog and website etc the name On A Whimsey was broadcast.  Other ways entail spending a little money but can be very cost effect too.  Namely, by creating different sized banners to be placed on various blogs that invite people to do so.  Also, creating 'plug-in' banners,again by invitation on various blogs, which are free and only entail signing up.

By using my own paintings and manipulating them through computer programs I have been able to create different types of banners. There are advertisers to whom you pay monies or bid for space using different size banners.  This can be a good way to use advertising as a showcase for your works of art.  For the long, upright rectangle one I rotated an ACEO whilst adding the words of the shop On A Whimsey with the caption along the bottom 'an encaustic adventure'.  By so doing the viewer can see immediately what the advertisement might be about and when they move their cursor over the advertisement the words appear 'an adventure into the world of encaustic art' thus leaving the viewer in no doubt about the subject content.  Going further, by clicking on the advertisement itself a link has been established to take a journey directly to my shop!

It is interesting to see how other artists engage with the public and encourage or educate people about their art.

Certainly, without the Internet it would be a much harder and not such an instant experience.  Quite apart from the practicalities of advertising I do find it fun to find the most innovative means of getting the message out - plain and simple!

They tell the story of Wolverine, or Logan as he likes to be called, 50 years after practically all the well-known superheroes (Cap, Thor, Spider-Man, Cyclops…) have been killed by a swipe of supervillains who now share the country of America and rule with their individual iron fists. Logan lives on a farm with his wife and two kids and tries to make ends meet to pay off the rent to the Banners (Hulk's grandchildren) who punish everyone who's unable to pay by kicking their butts. But Logan swore never to fight again. So he gets beaten to a pulp and his old friend Hawkeye comes to help him, since his healing abilities aren't what they used to be. Hawkeye offers Logan to accompany him on a delivery job through the whole country and paying him 500 dollars for it. Logan accepts. That is where the journey starts.

I will stop there, although it is hard to hold back. I would like to write the whole story so far and I can’t wait for the new issue to come out. The art (writer: Mark Millar, pencils: Steve McNiven, ink: Dexter Vines) of the book is very clean and very rough at the same time, though nothing special. The story follows a simple but entertaining plot line. This story would make for a great movie. I specifically appreciate the little details of this gruesome view of the world with no more superheroes to protect it. The Banners, for example, drive a stolen vehicle that used to belong to the Fantastic Four and they “repainted” it. If you ever asked yourself the question, what would happen if the bad guys actually won for once, this will give you a pretty interesting vision of what that might look like. Plus, you get Logan as a determined pacifist who would rather die than “pop his claws” again. Well, we’ll see…
